It is just me, but when the game needs to patch/update .. didn't it used to have a pause button while downloading xGb for the patch?
My downloading speed are pretty crappy, and the latest 500Mb patch, is estimated to be 3hrs...
Prior to this patch, I thought I could pause the download, then restart to do it later.
Now there is no pause, and if I cancel I get a message saying "the MWO install as you know it, will corrupt itself back the to stoneage .. if you stop it now... so go ahead and do it ALL".
Why can't the pause button be a standard feature of patching .. so I can do it when it suits me??

It might not be the most liked solution, but the updater in the Steam version can be paused. Steam doesn't compress the updates as much as the MWO launcher patches, but being able to pause and continue the patch download later is a pretty big deal.

Use Steam. I have had a lot of issues with the regular patch loader in the past. It can also pause any time.

Just quit the patcher, resume the patch later.
Upon completion, run the repair tool to check for any corrupted files.
To be honest, I have not run into any problems with file corruption doing the above before.

Yes, exiting it will do the trick. It will not need repair afterwards, it will resume from where it left.

Exiting during the downloading phase has been ok in my experience (usually starts from where it left off), but I suggest you leave it alone once it is actually "patching", as the game files will be getting modified/replaced at that time. I think that is what the warning refers to.

Roger .. thanks for the feedback peoples
I cancelled the downloader yesterday, and restarted it today (roughly at the same amount downloaded) ok.
Yeah, I wouldn't ever cancel the patch during the patch stage. No good would come from that.
Pity the pause function was removed. I swear it was there previously. As a feature already there, and very useful, why would the devs remove it?
I sorta remember reading something about the patching process being updated at some point, in the last few updates, but I could be mistaken.

You can download the patch files manually, on another computer/connection and change the patcher to use the previously downloaded cache files instead.
