I hear it's bouncing around somewhere.

Limitations of Cryengine is preventing the flea from entering the fray. It goes too fast with MASC and that messes up the game. Or something along those lines. At least that's what I've heard.

Speed limitations be damned, I await patiently for this and the Fire Moth. I still don't believe it's impossible to include these roadrunner mechs.

If I remember right the problem was with the rendering engine + particle effects + high speed = Whorfage

IE PPC hitting super fast mech made things crash badly

In a nut shell anyways

Imposed engine caps (that disallow it going over the Locust's speeds while operating with MASC) could make the Flea work in-game.

I really just want the Fire Ant, tbh.

How does the Flea surpass the Locust in speed really? On sarna it goes 97 km/h (119 km/h with MASC) VS the Locust 129.6 km/h

Even with speed tweak the Locust is still faster. Also I like the Fleas hardpoints better, higher mounts, more weapons overall. and it has shorter nose profile. Makes up for it, ditching speed. I want it regardless.
As I have said before, we got the Urban mech even if for some its not "useful". Yeah, IMO it could be applied to the Flea as well then. So no excuse. Better be good.

There's still not a light mech with MASC, as well.

Is it only the PPC hitting high speed mechs that causes the crash? What if they just changed the particle effect of the PPC. I mean, I like how the PPC looks now, but if it's preventing the addition of some very popular mechs then idonwannit!

The thing is unlike the firemoth the Flea could be fixed by simply giving it a low max engine... that's all you need to do to fix it- make sure with masc it out runs a locust but without it it's slower. it's enough until we increase the speed cap.

It doesn't help that the Cryengine has proven to be unreliable at best.

My buddy had a team that dropped with nothing but Spiders as a gag a few years ago, crashed the game in a matter of minutes. Granted, the game has improved allot but Flea might not be worth the trouble.

This is what would allow the Flea to enter the game without breaking it.

I want that fire ant.

Fire ant is technically a very late variant of the Flea- the best you will get is a Flea hero mech that has those hardpoints and have flamer quirks -evil laugh- and they thought it was annoying as [bloop] in Mech Commander >=)

I don't think there is a technical obstacle anymore - rather they decided to make a locust (addressing the unseen issue) and didn't want two 20 ton mechs.

The flea is a go go. PGI need to be drowned in demands first, like the urbanmech. Also they could be effective buddies to the locust. Two 20 tonners with some differences and mechs in arms!
