Hey guys, so I'm having an issue with my KDK-2 that I just noticed. When I play my KDK-2 I can't hear my own footsteps when in first person view. It does not matter what map I am on or what type of terrain I am walking on. If I go to third person, I can hear my own footsteps. But if I go to 1st person I cannot hear my own footsteps, though I can hear the footsteps of nearby 'mechs that pass by me. In an attempt at troubleshooting I have two installs of MWO on my PC, the steam version and the original client. I was playing my Steam install which I recently installed the MW2 sound pack on and then decided I didn't like it and uninstalled it and thought maybe that broke something. Booted up the original client which is a seperate install and has never had any sound mods on it. Still no footsteps on my KDK-2. I've posted this as a bug in the patch feedback subforums but I'm not getting any answers there as to whether this is an issue that only I am having or if this issue is affecting all players. I'm also uncertain if this issue is only affecting the specific variant of the Kodiak that I am piloting or if it affects the entire chassis since I don't own more than one Kodiak and don't have the money to buy another variant just to test this out. Can anyone who has a Kodiak KDK-2 laying around please tell me if they are having the same issue? You don't even have to go into a match with it. The problem replicates itself just fine in the academy or testing grounds.

EDIT: Oh yes, forgot to add that I am hearing 1st person footsteps just fine on all other 'mechs that I've tried.

Really? This thread has been in general discussion for over four hours and not a single person can confirm or deny?

It steps lightly. It has big bear paws. Its not stompy. It glides.

I was going to do a check after I read the thread, but my unit had enough for a 4 man on. That's done now so I'll go ahead and check it in testing grounds. I've known eariler that on all mechs (at least that I've piloted) when you go down hill your footstep sounds don't play.

A lot of people never use their KDK-2, many even sold it. Its rather useless with assault class jump jets being such an absolutely terrible waste of space.

EDIT:
Just tested it. Its not playing any step sounds in first person, nor is it playing any sounds when you land from falling.

I guess those hoverjets are doing something after all.

EDIT2:
Tested KDK-3, it actually isn't playing any sounds either for the walking in first person. I've never noticed it before and have the thing mastered though. Its engine sound's pulsating covers it up well.

I'm pretty sure it used to play footsteps. This is the first time I've gotten in my Kodiak since the last patch and I noticed it immediately. Anyway, I reported the bug so I suppose nothing to do now but wait and see if PGI feels like fixing it. I'm glad to hear it's not just me though. Thanks for checking.

Just checked.

Nope. No stompy robit boots on my SB. I seem to recall that the other variants are the same. Clans take extra care with their sound damping - the KDK evolved from the NZXT tower case.

It's because of the sound deadening material surrounding the cockpit.
