After 3 years, PGI is still making these kinds of events that lead to poor gameplay. Granted, this isn't a terrible event, compared to some earlier fiascos (like when you needed 80 points to get a free Victor or whatever it was, and people disconnected as soon as the score was 0-2), but it's still surprising when PGI keeps making events where the focus is personal damage, kills, etc, instead of wins or other criteria that promote teamwork.

I did not bother with most of the challenges, but the MechWarrior Things event did lead to some interesting gameplay. The FP event actually brought people in to play, which was good. Events like this current one just promote what you are referring to. That said, when you look at the heavy percentage in solo QP right now, it shows that these events are apparently what people want.

..but, this is the last day of the event and some people are trying to override shutdown, keep the cool shots on the ready and tunnel the first heavy they see to get their last few KMDDs.

I once made the suggestion that drafting could be a good thing for this game. Helps slower mechs keep up, and allows mechs to overtake easier.
