"Hay gaiz, let's store these missiles inside the nuclear engine!"

Personally, the reason I put ammo in CT is:

1) If I've lost armor on the ct, i'm already vulnerable to engine crit blow out. Whether it happens from ammo explosion or engine hit barely makes any difference - I'm already in a bad place.

2) If I'm taking CT internal damage from heat (I've never seen this cause an ammo explosion personally, but I assume it could) then it is my own damn fault and a reminder to get better. Excuse me, Git Gudder.

3) No reason to waste tonnage on CASE (which can be reasonably good in a STD engine, ammo heavy mech loadout).

Same reason I put ammo in the head.

And engine Crits have no negative effects

i just mean to say that the engine can soak up 2 cripts, and they are 5 times more likely to be crit than the ammo in the ct.

Huh? CT ammo is consumed first, always.

i thought the head ammo went first, then st and ct, arms and legs. but idk i forget. wheres that infographic when i need it. its sort of how i "memorized" the drop order in fp but can never predict what map it is.

15 HP, which is generally 2 Crits from an FLD source, but can be dozens from Lasers

It's 6 slots, so smaller than some ballistics with more HP

I wonder if engine crits while not doing anything to the engine add the extra damage you usually get from critting a component, wasn't it 15% or so?

However, ammo can be critted, as can the in-engine heatsinks. And it's not even hard; shoot the back of an assault once and armor is gone (mostly 10 or less points) after that, MG like a boss and you'll see the ammo explosion.

I played a while with the 4xLBX Kodiak and stil uber-quirked Cent-D and with those you'll see ammo explosions all day.

I carry 1 ton of UAC5 and 1 ton of AC5 ammo in my Mauler's CT, normally it is used long before I lose CT armor.

Pretty much this. The logic is, if I lose my head or CT, I am dead anyways.

the only time you have to worry is when you are running cored. so long as there is any amount of armor there you are fine and safe from ct ammo explosions.

^This. If you don't get through CT ammo, you're toast anyway.

Until a Gauss round hits 14 armour

Then you pray to RNGeesus.
