I just wanted to take a moment and appreciate some of the great things about playing this game.

Please feel free to add, but try to keep it positive and if not completely salt-free at least low-sodium.

We have a great mechwarrior title with amazing mech models and arguably the best balance that has existing in the last decade plus of mechwarrior gaming. There is a very decent mixture of mech types encountered in most battles. I feel like I can use a lot of different weapons and play styles and still be reasonable effective. I don't feel pigeon-holed that I must be a brawler, or must be a sniper, or must be a LRM boater or that I must only use laser vomit, dakka, etc. Even flamers seem to have carved out a niche without destroying the game.

I want to say thank you for the fun stuff: warhorns, cockpit items, paintjobs and decals and the helpful things: in game VoIP, spectator tools, unit admin tools (last online is great).

Thank you to all the unit leaders putting in time to organize, deal with personnel drama and keep things running.

Thank you to the guys putting in time to develop resources that help new pilots understand the game and keep old pilots interested. Mechspecs, Smurfy, MRBC, Metamechs, NGNG - good stuff guys.

Happy Thanksgiving and good hunting

Better activate your flame shield! Inb4:

TT Grognards: "Balance was better in Table Top, WHY DOESN'T MWO USE ALL TT VALUES AND TT HEAT SCALE!?!?"
MWLL: "Living legends was mech better balanced, jump jets just launched you into the air, SRMs were "fun", no mechlab to optimize builds (stock mechs only, hurray!)"
MW4: "MW4 had sort of a sized hardpoint system to limit weapon types on mechs, balance was much better, I'm totally ignoring how OP somethings were, like poptarting and ER LL boating"
MW3: "Gameplay and TTK were much better in MW3. I'm completely ignoring the legging meta"
MW2: I was too young to remember this so no comment here

If you're going to Strawman everyone, might as well be accurate about it.

Battletech - Best Fluff Integration, Best Large Combat System
MW2:M - Best Campaign Mechanics
MW3 - Best Combat 'Feel,' Most Satisfying Cockpit Experience
MW4 - Best Limited MechLab
MC1/2 - Best Attempt to Modernize System (Compared to Tech Level at Release)
MW:LL - Arguably Most Ambitious

This is not something to be grateful for.

I'm highly thankful for Alex and the modelling crew for making so many nostalgic mechs into proper, up to date beauties. I'm thankful for there being "something" I can play that's Mechwarrior. I'm thankful for the fact that these forums exist so I can slum it up with other people that love Battletech, to talk about things I enjoy and to post anime gifs. These are the things I'm thankful for, and I'll leave my salt outside this thread for the sake of the OP.

My post was mainly satirical. But yeah.. it was responding to a balance statement, so all that other stuff doesn't really matter.

Not sure what fake argument I was building up just to tear down, so I'm not sure that you used "strawman" correctly.

It certainly is a fun game and a great way to blow off steam after work.

I'm thankful for the generally well designed and interesting events, the reasonably spaced sales on various items, the quality mech combat, the nice models and maps and dropships, things look pretty good overall. :)

I am also very thankful for the forumgoers who take the time and effort to try to contribute to the game and it's atmosphere, thank you for being here!

I have played all the other game iterations in the Mechwarrior universe that were produced in the last quarter of a century or so. IMO, Mechwarrior Online is the best.

Yes, it could absolutely be better and it is not what it was envisioned to be but I am thankful of the fact that we do have a Mechwarrior game to play where we can drive them and engage in combat with other Mechwarriors. Thanks for that. If the game gets better next year then I will be even more thankful then.
