So I've seen a few threads about stock matches so far and none of them seem to contain the most important part, at least to me.

IT"S FUN!!

It serves as a great pallet cleanser. Feeling burnt out? Give stocks a shot.

If you want to give it a spin, check out of the Community Events section of the threads.
I included the details in the spoiler below, it's sizable so unspoil at your own peril!

I think the biggest surprise to a lot of folks is the differences in the armor amounts.

It's fun because it feels very different, the speeds are lower on average, so the tactics tend to be different.

Armor! Thunderbolts SOAK damage! Jagers are true glass cannons. K2s can really punch outside their weight class, but have a weak chin Posted Image.

Cicada's suck though, even with their speed they just don't do as much as well as the lighter locusts.

I would happily participate in these events, especially with quirks and skills turned off. Looking forward to it this, but unable to make it to today's event. My first child was born last night. Please inform me of the next session when it is scheduled. :)

I'll take a CDA-3C tonight then and show you your folly, hopefully Rhaythe is on your team so he can soak up all the PPC shots.

The other Cicadas don't have a lot of weapons or armor it's true, but they can still do their part.

I'm eager to see what folks try out.

Side note: Grats Koniving!

I'm thinking more and more about trying stock mode...

A couple of problems for me with this... I only own 4 IS mechs (1 cr@ppy Cicada (C), an Urbie, Atlas-D-DC and a King Crab). Also it would be 2.30 am and I have work the next day. If you do find someone to sort an EU slot, I'll save up for an IS deck instead of spending millions to pimp out my clantech with modules.

I'm getting really bored with QP and FP/CW/FW (whatever..) doesn't do much for me (apart from the C-bill rewards when I can be bothered to queue for it).

And even though you don't know me from Adam (Steiner to keep it BT) congrats Koniving. Hope he/she sleeps through the night and the first toy you buy is a battlemech... a soft fluffy Urbie... or thier very own Dakka-Care-Bear.

Atlas STRONG.

Urbs can bring a lot firepower to bear for a 30 tonner, it does require some help from teammates to pull them to you.
The KGC-0000 is gnarly.

If you do go to buy an IS mech, mediums are good. You cannot go wrong with a Hunch, any of them, but there are a lot of good mediums.

If you or anybody wants feedback on what mechs to bring just tell us your favorite builds and play styles we will gladly help.

My go to mechs at the current time are:

Light: Arctic Cheetah with ER-M and ER-S mix (I do like to run the prime almost stock, I swapped the flamer for another ER-M had some good results with it.) I prefer scouting in lights or providing ecm cover and then a distraction (actually using them for what I think they are for), but I have killed several bigger mechs in them when I've had the chance. One on one a few times. I brought the Urbie because I believe everyone should own an Urbie.

Mediums: Dont really use them. Have a 6MG/S-Srm6 2ER-L SCat I bring out rarely... The Cicada is only there because I was given it.

Heavys: I love my EBJ-A with 3 ERPPC and 4ER-S (the EBJ was the first mech I purchased that I liked and I still use it, it's my most pimped mech). I also run a couple of Orion-IICs with ER-L/LRM/Streaks/LBX or PPC/SRM/LBXorUAC.

Assaults: I brought the Kodiak pack... Elited them and now rarely use them. I like my King Crab with 2xAC10 and 2xAC2 and 3ML. It's usually my go to. I don't think I'm that good in the Atlas. At least not yet. I keep trying...

I tried the hunchy when I first started playing... wasn't its biggest fan... but I know a lot more about the mechs and I hope I've improved some by now... maybe worth a try. Especially in stock mode...

When I did the HBS what mech are you test, it said Centurion... are they worth a try? I could call it my Cylon...

*edit* cos I've always got something else to say...

This play mode is one of the better things they have done lately.

Congratulations, brother. Cherish it, my oldest just left for college and the day she was born feels like it was a couple years ago.

As to the OP, I'll try like hell to make it, SMM nights some of my fondest memories in mwo. Except Carl killing me just about every game... why was he never on MY team? ;)

Definitely have to give your back sometimes to roll damage to take advantage of stock armor distribution.

K2s are vulnerable if you get close.

AWE-8Qs are like a PPFLD artillery piece you have to set up and protect.

Atlases are scary when you run into them unexpectedly turning a corner.

Wolverines generally have more stock armor than Victors.

Loved Stock Mech Mondays...felt like playing BT vs MWO.

Does anyone know yet if when stock mode is entered can the UI return a mech to stock loadout if some of the required items are no longer present in a players inventory?

Or do we have to buy them again.

This is awesome. I wish I didn't have a full-time job while going through a BSN program right now or I'd have time to finally enjoy this.

Unable to connect to the TS server currently. Neither the address nor a nslookup of it seem to work for teamspeak. Anyone in currently?

Centurions are solid, one of the few mechs that really carried enough ammo. 2 tons for both weapons. The CN9-AL is a good choice. And given your mech choices, the Locust 1E would be solid light.

Just the leader of each team.

Nopes, but they DO have to be 'valid' engine heatsinks, a weapon.
