- Remove ghost heat all together.
- Make every mech have a 30 point heat capacity. The only way to increase this is in the pilot trees (max +20% with double basic I believe). Of course there maybe a few mechs that are quirked to have a higher heat cap or lower than others, that's fine.
- Double heat sinks simply do what the title of the upgrade suggests. They give you double the heat dispersion of single heat sinks and that's it.
With this simple system you no longer need ghost heat because if you fire enough weapons to generate 30 heat, you shut down. For example, one of the more infuriating issues I have at the moment is kodiak snipers. 2 C-Gauss and 2 C-ERPPC's. That's 60 points in a mouse click and they can just keep cranking out damage. Well under this system they would shut down with one alpha (unless you have your pilot trees flushed out for the mech). One alpha would generate 30 heat, now you can only shoot the gauss rifles for a little bit instead of alpha striking several times in a row.
Gauss rifles:
These are not supposed to have a spool up at all. The spool up makes the gauss explosion make no sense.
Here is my suggestion.
- Remove the spool up time.
- Increase the cool down time from 5s to 8s.
- Decrease ammo per ton from 10 to 6.
I'm sure someone has had to suggest something along these lines before. I think these simple changes would fix a lot of problem with time to live as well.
