How to improve the most popular MWO maps without upsetting the players.

Keep the same layout, make them bigger. E.g. give HPG Manifold 4 hills instead of 1 hill.

I will accept MC payment for my ideas.

Just like most revamped maps... they will be touched like the sad paperdoll that our balance overlord uses in the court of public opinion.

PGI's lack of creativity in map design by relying on "three channel approach to a central feature" is epitomized by the poor excuse for a map that is Canyon. Game play is completely predictable on that map, it's completely dull. I'd love to see it revamped and made interesting instead. How about some really low channels, giving people reasons to want chassis with greater vertical arm movement range for shooting mechs above & below? Tunnels between channels so you can't just predict exactly where any mech without JJ will go next and be right every single time? High plateaus other than the central feature? More variety of terrain, different angles of approach, etc. would all be great improvements IMHO.

Totally agree. I know we are taking about Canyon but this post makes me think of that awful map called Alpine with its one huge terrain dominating peak that pretty much requires you to fight over it and play king of the hill. I mean here you have this huge, interesting map but because of that one peak, none of the rest of the map gets used. I have been saying since that map came out that it needed someone to drop a kinetic strike on that mountain to level it out so that the map could actually be fun to play.

That's why Canyon should be left alone:

Only there and at HPG such slow paced and balanced matches are possible now.

I think Alpine is fine when played as conquest. Players have to spread to not to loose on points. Some maps should get fixated to one game mode to be playable.

Then don't go up that mountain. No one really has to.

I've always seen the complaints about Alpine Peaks as a player problem -- a problem ripe for exploitation. <maniacal Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image>

all new maps are worse than the old ones. the only problem the old ones had was maybe the size. i think they were fine as they were but some ppl complained about beeing too small for 12v12. as for the rest...comparing the new one with the old version...although there are some improvments here and there, the overall result was a worse map.

i wish they would keep the old ones in game.

and you know why they don't ? because no one would play their "improved" maps. so if you dont have them...you play what you have.
