By now every single pilot should understand the objective of each match. When it's capture the enemy base defend your own or kill everyone it's pretty simple. If it says "Base being Captured". Each time that happens everyone looks at the situation the team is in. You figure out how many enemy mechs are on your base. Depending on how fast the cap is going. And if your whole team is still half way across the map and in the middle of a fire fight you still need to talk to each other and figure out what to do. I don't care what is happening. If no one talks and no one goes back to your base then you will most likely lose. Especially if you have not even made it to the enemy base yet. And even more especially if your team is getting picked off one by one. For the love of God send at least one or two mechs back to the base to stop the capping. Or hell get everyone to fall back and stop the enemy capping then form a new firing line. Its not hard. Every match isn't skirmish!!!!!!! If you like losing due to not doing simple things then keep it up.

And i know there are probably 20 threads about this each day. And me posting this will change nothing. Lmao. I just had to type it out. Because this is the only thing that gets on my nerves. When im the only one going back to the base and I'm asking for help over and over and no one listens. Then when we lose all of a sudden everyone speaks up. Lmao lmao hahahahahahaaahshshshshs oh god im losing it. Im losing my mind.

Trying to control pubs is like herding cats. All you'll get from it is a lot of scratches and bite marks. I don't bother.

You know how it goes. "I'm in an assault/heavy, it's not my job to rtb"

Well...

It is a fools gambit either way most of the time....

Peel away to protect base, frontline crumbles... Don´t peel away and team lose...

Since PUG´s do not have the usual designated scouting mech, there is no easy to way to know if the capper is a lonely locust or a full lace of mediums and fast heavies (unless it is really early in the game) .

Sometimes it is a better gamble to shatter their front line and pray you have enough time.

You know PGI just made an event where everyone is hunting KMDDs for 2 weeks, right? Doesn't matter if it's Conquest and all 5 bases are being capped by the enemy while all surviving teammates are brawling with tentacle Dire Wolves. The puggers will still go chase that Spider with 1 stripped leg across the map in the hope of claiming a KMDD before the match is over.

Yeah, it's only 1 KMDD per mech, but if you want all the bonuses, that means 5-7 matches per day for most players. In other words, all the matches they play, every day, for two weeks, unless they play a lot every day.

And that's exactly why I'm sitting it out and playing different games. I'd rather not deal with that mess.

It's the opposite for me. I keep reminding my teammates to "Kill first, cap later, when we get numbers advantage", but at least a lance worth of our mechs (especially Lights) keep trying to cap some square that is half a map away while the main team gets pummeled. IN ******* RIVER CITY!

1 KMDD is nothing. It has nothing to do with last hits. It is trivial to get one. Even my Panther with only 1 AC2 and 2 SRM2s can manage it in only three games. If people are chasing squirrels then it is because they have no understanding, either of the objectives for the event or of tactics.

All you can do with PUGs is use comms and call targets. If the PUGs refuse to listen, it's their loss. You're doing your job, and hopefully doing it well. If they play ball, well, then you're making something beautiful.

I was just in a match where there was an enemy Arctic Cheetah and Spider behind our team. A friendly light 'mech and I in my Viper peeled off to deal with them. And then so did two of our assaults. I told them that we don't need assaults chasing Spiders, that they should return to the front and allow the light and I to deal with the two enemy lights. But the assaults just kept chasing no matter how many times I told them to break off. We still managed a win but god damn that was stupid.

It's a classic conundrum. If you're pugging and your base is getting captured, one of two things happens every time:

1. No one turns around and you lose.

2. Everyone turns around, and you lose.

So you get trapped is a paradox - If you don't turn around yourself, no one will, but if you do turn around, everyone turns their back on the enemy and get's anally molested with lasers.

There's really no good choice here.

its easy to herd cats, just open a can of tuna, and they will all show up in hopes of pilfering the fishy goodness in a can. or put a box on the ground, they will all show up to negotiate a time share arrangement. people who use that phrase dont own cats.

the phrase however does work if you replace cats with toddlers. and its a better analogy to those typical qp grognards.

A can of cat treats would work for our cats. Shake it and they would all come runnin'. Then half of them would be like...meh, the others would gobble em all up. Then 2 of them would slap each other if they got to close.

i laugh at people who chase squirrels thinking they are an easy kill. frankly id rather face tank a kodiak than have to fight a light mech. more likely you got 6 idiots shooting through eachother and standing on eachother's toes in a desperate attempt to stomp a cockroach. but then get lured into a wall of kodiaks, the light skitters off unharmed and the team is down 6 idiots.

I own cats. They can't be herded in any form whatsoever. But mine also survived being in a tornado, so they're special.
