Curious, because I'm a Clan player from back in the day.

It is currently 3049. Clan Invasion doesn't really get cooking until 3050.

Keeping mean/snide comments to myself.

In an ideal world, no Clans ever. As it stands, they'll probably appear some time next year.

Well that sucks.

I miss my Timby D: and I would love to pilot one again.
The Inner Sphere doesn't hold my interest as much as the Clans do.

If the Inner Sphere doesnt interest you as much, what are you doing here in your "Timby" trying to invade us ?

No, we are something far more efficient - dedicated career soldiers that fight to win by using the battlefield for our advantage through deception, ambushes, traps, artillery, air support, combined arms and commando tactics.

What are those archaic medieval concepts you are spouting on about?

personally prefer the clans as well, but I am by no means a hater of IS, they have some of my favorite mechs, though the clans hold more of my favorites, will say I have always hated the Atlas, there are so many other mechs out there, why it is the IS seem to have an utter infatuation with this mech, it is beyond me.

There is so many other assault mechs that are better than the Atlas. I never quite understood it either.

"In an ideal world, no Clans ever. As it stands, they will probably appear some time next year."

Is that better?

The Clans will likely appear when they can find a way to balance their totally OP 'Mechs against the IS ones.

As much as storyline might be a handy way of saying "They ain't here yet." the truth is they're probably too overpowered at the moment.

I imagine when they ARE introduced, they're going to cost an absolute fortune to field and repair.

Well ya never know they could find a way to throw in the Rakshasa (Innersphere attempt to copy the Timber Wolf) course that's supposed to appear about 6 years from now, so it'd be quite the stretch...

here is something to chew on....PGI has not said whether or not they will be playable.

most assume the clans will be....

but what if they are not?

how will PGI balance their in game economy since they do not use anything like what the IS uses?
how will PGI encourage folks to play clanners as clanner and not as surat barbarians?
how will PGI limit the number of clanners to maintain IS number superiority in combat?

there are ways of doing all that...but what if they decide clans are NPCs?

see what im getting at is right now we have a decent spread of players amongst the IS factions....
if the clans come...the fedrats and dracs get all the action leaving the rest behind until after Tukayyid.

so....to answer the OPs question....the clans arrive next year sometime around summer....

but it is pure speculation at this point as to whether or not they will be playable.

Clans as NPC's? I kind of like that idea. The clan invasion could occur as a big event, clan factions are controlled by AI, and clan mechs and weapons can be obtained through salvage or something. I think that sort of approach would be effective.

I assume, with no facts to back me up, that they won't be playable. It would the clans would throw off game balance significantly if playable, and over-powered NPC factions would be well-suited for co-op game mode enemies. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking.

Look, as long as I get my Timber Wolf, I don't care who I'm scrapping, who I step on...

As long as the pay is good and I get in the cockpit of one.
