Would it be cool if there was an off shot of this game that took place in the 2750 era? No clans no IS. Just Star League. I was thinking that balance might be easier as all sides would be using the same tech level. And there are slot of 2750 mech. Basically all the IS mech plus a few more. Minus a few 3050 designs such as the wolf hound and cataphract. Whatcha think?

There is no doubt the earlier eras would have been easier to balance, but many people equate Mechwarrior to Clans. Too much money left on the table not to include them.

Even in the days of the League the tech base was not even.

There is a decrepancy between lore and game.
If the tech (SHS, etc.) would have been indeed as inferior as it is in game - nothing changes.

To mention a semi - SDLF mode was OpenBeta...and even this was not balanced. Not even close. You might think that Closed Beta was better - because you didn't had the bland TTK reducer - ES and DHS but even there were several issues.

Spin offs=Diluted Player Base. No good.

That being said, 2750 is the best era, so we should get more 2750 mechs. Because 2750 mechs are the best. Come on, PGI, you could call it a ComStar update.

Just don't touch the Champion. You can't do it justice in this art style.

If you are willing to up your timeline a bit (3025), and don't mind switching to a turn based strategy game (like XCOM), then HBS's Battletech might be the closest thing you are going to get to that.

That is unless PGI decides to make a IS only lobby with pre-Fourth Succession War tech, but I wouldn't count on that. I don't even think they would structure an even like that.

I don't feel that way myself. I would love to see what Alex and PGI can do for the Champion.

Would it be right to start every new player out in this mech?

I would love to get my hands on a Lancelot and other SL-era Mechs like the Spartan (which was actually included in the German translation of the TRO:2750).
