How fast will the PHX-S3 be able to go with a 355XL and mask 2?

(45t mech)

Hopefully fast enough to render moot any arguments against the Firemoth and MASC.

Because I want a Firemoth.

Back on topic...

Base speed: 355 / 45 = 7.888889
7.89 * 16.2 = 127.8 kph

Speed Tweak: +7.5%
MASC II: +23%
Total buff: +30.5%

Total speed: 127.8 * 1.305 = 166.7 kph

Lol.

Question. What is the 16.2 value in that equation?

I may be wrong on this, but doesn't the game engine limit the speed to ~150kph? Isn't that why the locust caps out at that? I know I freaking teleport a hell of a lot when I'm cruising at speeds around 130 ish and I'm in a brawl.

Only like 8.5 tons of weapons with endo and ferro, MASC and 1 JJ though :(

Probably better off with an XL 350, trim some armor and go LPL+2MLs

XL340 will probably be a better choice. The speed to weight ratio tanks a bit above that.

It's the generic speed constant that all mechs use.

Just dividing the engine rating by mech tonnage would only give a weird number of hexes that the mech can move per turn (reference to the TT board game). As such, the BT design overlords made a "speed constant" that you multiply the hexes by in order to get your "real life" speed.

Thanks, I've been using some Li song mechlab Blackjack-fu, and then needing a lie down afterwards.

Just to note, the SadCat Clam MASC Mk2 boosts for 23%...but the Spheroid Masc Mk3 (45-60 tons) boosts to 26%.
3 tons however.

So, 26+7.5=33.5%

128*1.335
=170 Kph

But now SSW is confusing me, because it's giving me a 2 ton MASC, but PGI's files specify 3

Either way...the Hawk has gone straight to Plaid.

And for whom it may concern, the Dasher mentioned earlier...

Base speed: 162
Speed Tweak: 174.1
With MASC and Tweak: 206.5

Given that the old max speed in MWO was about 171 kph (max engine Commando), the Dasher is still not possible. As such, Deal With It™.

I was looking at the Feb patch notes for the values, and it says 23% for IS MASC Mk. II.

Quote

• Inner Sphere MASC MK II
• Speed boost increased to 23% (from 10%).
• Turn rate increased to 45% (from 25%).
• Acceleration rate increased to 190% (from 175%).
• Deceleration rate increased to 180% (from 150%).

The Pixie's MASC is Mk. II stock, and SSW automatically selects the 2 ton and 2 slot version.

PGI should probably update these then

XL 355 is only 23 tons. Throw Endo on there and you've got 19.75 tons for weapons, ammo, and armor. That's actually quite good, if you think about it! Probably throw FF on there too since you'll be able to save 12 crits from the 4 engine DHS.

It'll be fast enough to speed right into the DoA pile.

I believe if you go down to XL340 + MASC + 6 JJ, and drop a half-ton armour, you can squeeze in an LPL and 2 x ML. I'll probably go that route to give it a halfway decent poke.

You would probably better off with an XL 320 and 2 LPLs plus MASC to be honest.

124 ish with speed tweak and 148 with MASC is not bad, and 2 LPLs on the right arm is much nicer than 1 LPL and 2 MLs.
