I was thinking about this the other day and thought it could be a really nice addition to the game, and not all that hard, though probably a bit time consuming if you did it for all mechs. But i think once the code was in, it could be done fairly easily.

First, it would really help new players understand where weapons are.

Second with the tons of mechs in game, even some of us vets just can't memorize them all. Besides many mechs have tons of various load outs, and you could place say a single weapon or two in many different spots.. are they in the arms? or in the torsos? Different angles can hide where a weapon is for example, and make more incentive to lock and get the paper doll, or make the module info gathering speed more useful.

Not to mention, Info warefar is a part of the game, so why not add some more helpful info from your targeted locks?

I know the paper doll, shows armor, and weapons, and what weapon is still working, But what it doesn't show is location. So what about a simple Circle, with a number inside of it, the circles would be number from top to bottom of weapon order.. meaning top weapon is 1, then 2, and so on..

the circles would then be placed on the paper doll, with said numbers, and if the weapon was still active it would be a normal circle with the number in it, if the weapon was crit'ed, or out of ammo, then the weapon circle would get a slanted line through it.. AKA, the classic no smoking sign look.

You cold see if a mech had high mounted weapons, a weapon in just the arm, or maybe CT, or what ever.. To me this fits right in with INFO warfare. Maybe you would need a targeting computer, or a BAP? Or maybe that could add more detail,, like if the weapon was still working or not?

At any rate, i think this could help newer players understand things a bit more, and just be a cool over all feature. Maybe even add something about engine type too, size, top speed, XL or not? Maybe extra info with some sort of added electronics, or perhaps sensor up date. though this entire thing could be part of a sensor update.. Adding different levels of sensors for more data and such.
