Gorgeous. Terra Therma's update, just from a visual perspective, is just gorgeous. Sure, it's all fire and brimstone, but it's very good looking fire and brimstone.

Don't get me wrong, people will still dislike it for largely the same reasons:
-Dark
-Tall rock formations/mountains
-Ditches with bridges
With just the one, very obvious feature, that maybe people won't need to complain about.

But it's pretty, so there's that!

Eh, i just hope they do something about the center of the map, because otherwise, i actually liked Terra Therma.

It does look pretty.

What you didn't like the Pugroaster?

Would be interesting to actually fight on other parts of the map for once, I'll agree.

I loved TT because it was one of the few maps that was actually good for battles of zellbrigen. I hope they don't ruin it.

The real reasons to hate TT are the layout and...nope, just the layout. Heat and tile set are fine, but that center ring ruins the map. If it's gone, could be a fine map.

Huntsman's cockpit preview takes place in new terra therma...
https://youtu.be/JUBzrLqzfhQ

countdown to huntsman topic also contains few screenshots

It looks like they've flattened the crater area by A LOT. I've got good feelings about this.

Looks even more like Mustafar now, less like Mordor.

I hope it doesn't turn into Grim Plexus. You see, Grim Plexus has a relatively small open area in the center. A hill with some buildings, a hill without buildings, and some buildings on a lower plateau, with a frozen lake between them. And around this open area is a vast donut shaped field of tall rock formations. Why is this a problem? Well, all those tall rock formations are impossible to move over. They're basically a huge network of bottlenecks, because each rock formation is too huge to rapidly move around. It's very hard to fight in the outer reaches of the map, because you can't attack from multiple angles.

So everyone just fights in the center of the map, basically. Old Terra Therma was like that too. All those smaller volcanoes made engagements difficult in the outer reaches of the map, because a small flanking maneuver is at least 2 kilometers of walking in many places.

I'm worried that new Terra Therma will be very pretty, but full of bottlenecks. Thus, the map will effectively be much smaller than it appears as first glance. Like most MWO maps.

The very existence of this phrase makes me incredibly happy.

Of course "Old Frozen City" makes me incredibly sad.

I liked Old Frozen City. That's what makes this depressing.

On the bright side, it will be hard to make a worse Terra Therma

Though, with past experience...

Sigh! Once again, instead of removing an old map, why not just add the new one?

And if people still refuse to play this one, it's all going to be a colossal waste of time, money, and other very limited resources.

Yeah. We thought that about UI1.0 too.

I doubt reworking a map takes as much combined effort like making a new one.
On the other hand, old small maps like forest, river or frozen would be great for scouting mode or that other 4v4 mode we "should" have

I agree with this in literally every other case. But TT is utterly worthless and should be removed. A new map from the same tileset...fine and dandy.

Then you'd be surprised to know that apparently PGI cannot create a new map based on an older one without replacing the latter. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

I'm not going to look for it but there is a post from PGI that seem to suggest just that.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I love Terra Therma precisely because it is hellishly hot and dark and induces a lot of player mistakes that are ripe for exploitation.
