So, i just discovered that Shadow Hawk has 106 (114 tweak) KPH, for a 55 ton mech that has jump-jets.

Any good builds?

For Dakka: Do i pick the one with 25% Ballistic Cooldown (2h)? or -30% UAC Jam chance (5M)? Do i XL it? Because 2 UAC5s don't fit in XL.

Do i fill the head Missile launcher? Do i even max speed it?

All the Innersphere 55 ton mechs can fit a 360 engine and go that fast, although it costs a lot in firepower. I'll give a basic description of the key points of each.

Shadowhawk: 3-5 JJ, most have cockpit height LT ballistics, limited energy hardpoints, and at least 2 missile hardpoints.

Wolverine: 0-7 JJ, mostly have a right arm full of energy or ballistic hardpoints, some have a good amount of missiles in the LT.

Griffin: 7 JJ, mix of energy and missile hardpoints, primarily right stacked, great with SRMs.

Kintaro: No JJ, lots of missile and some energy hardpoints.

There are tons of approaches to the Shadow Hawk. Overall XL engines are highly recommended, and I speak as someone who generally dislikes XL engines. They allow you to capitalize on speed and firepower, and the Shadow Hawk is a relatively "safe" platform for an XL. At least for me, the side torsos don't take unusual amounts of damage (smallish hit boxes, shielded by the big arms, I guess).

Just looking at stuff people run on their Shadow Hawks, I'd say these are particularly common approaches:

- SHD-2K is overall the most popular variant due packing all weapon mounts on the shoulders. 3x(ER)LL and 3xLPL are both popular, I did well with 3xASRM6 and 3xML as a scouting machine.

- 2H and 5M are the ones that can "boat" ballistics, most typically 3xAC/2 and 2xUAC/5 respectively.

- 2D2 is the one that gets 4M hardpoints, and people's builds tend to revolved around this. I've seen people do surprisingly well in scouting games packing 4 SRM launchers and surprisingly, an LB-10X.

- 2D is the rarest variant ... versatile with 1B 3M 3E hardpoints, but kind of forces a mixed loadout.

- Gray Death is distinguished by 4E hardpoints in arms, and rather nice quirks for the AC/10. Most people take the hint and run AC/10, 4xML, and as big an XL engine as they can fit.

Once upon a time, every 'mech worth its salt was the Shadow Hawk.

True story.

The 5M was overperforming so it will get nerfed in the upcoming patch (Jam-Chance-Quirk lowered to 20%)

Actually I can't tell because I can't remember ever seeing one in the last 2 months (except when I played mine).

YOU'RE TO BLAME THEN!?

I'll take credit for the Jagger. I ran one sometime in August.

Edit:
In all seriousness, as to the OP:
Like N0ni suggested above, I too recommend the Mastery Pack.

Leveling the 2H with 3AC2s was a lot of fun mixed with periods of immense frustration, but if you like dakka sound it is worth it.

My 2d2 is now N0ni's build above, but I elited it with 4LRM5s and 2LPL. Lame I know but Lrms even at T3 are still often useful.

The GD I leveled with ac20 and 2 srm4s.

All builds have no more than 1-2 JJ and then whatever sized engine I could fit with near max armor.

The range of 3 ac2's and speed of an xl320 makes for decent survivability with the 2H.
SHD-2H

Most players know where to hit a shadow hawk to take it down so you really have to stay aware.
Because of that I rarely try to run the 2d2 with srms.

Back when LRM GH was not linked, I ran the Shawk-2D2 with 2xLRM10 + 2xLRM5. It was very good. Then LRM GH was linked and the build died.

I put 3xAC2 and 3xSRM4 on my Shadow Hawk (P). The DPS and screenshake / visual disruption is great, both at long range and short range. One of my best medium mechs.

Looks like nerf-bat hit the SDH.

From Patch notes:

Shadowhawk SHD-5M: UAC Jam Chance increased to -20% (30%).

There is one build I like in the Shadow Hawk. It is rather crazy though...
