Suggests that directions they have been taking have not gained new players nor been enough for many to keep playing.
...maybe a little less cash cow mech grabs and a little more substance needed...
Wanna buy a mech pack?

If early adopter rewards are a 25 mission PVE Campaign...
Do you really want PGI designing your PvE campaign?
Look at:
Turret mechanics (got aim?)
Artillery Strike mechanics (really, smoke for arty?)
Long Tom (trolololol)
Base capture mechanics (stand in square)
ECM Mechanics (on/off)
Ghost heat (haw haw)
Energy Draw (lolwut?)
Think about those imaginative features... and then tell me you *really* want PGI to do a PvE campaign.

That drops off, on any game
We're a niche community, and we have to deal with that
Unfortunately, PGI also refuses to communicate, and make repeated poor decisions, that probably doesn't help new player attraction or retention
That drops off on new games... many of those people most likely just moved over from the stand alone and still quit.

There's no suggestion there: to my knowledge they have done NOTHING to bring awareness of this game to anyone.
Mind you if Steam itself wasn't so bad at allowing every dumb indie game that are much, MUCH worse then this through it's doors, MWO and other titles might get a bit more discoverability. Just a little bit though.

I wouldn't blame Steam for this. PGI is using Steam like all other forms of PR... a pointless waste of time (for the most part).
The thing is PR won't fix what ails it... what they would have to do is actually fix FW/CW and the NPE, and then promote the heck out of it.
Still, it wouldn't be enough... fixing the game has to be a progressive thing, and not something as static as the gamemodes that we have. There's a good reason why it is mostly considered "multiple versions of Skirmish/Deathmatch".

Well.....I imagine it wouldnt be any worse or shallow then Armored Warfare's PVE.
That AI has: Cloaking, Energy Shields, Teleportation, Shooting through wall hacks, aim bots, ignore slope, instant reloads.
THe mode is nothing but a timed shoot house, where you have ot kill 30-40 tanks and sit on a series of circles inside of 10 minutes......
Soooo, idk, if its at least that good, then sure.....I just dont want the AI hacks to follow...

Let's not extend the US Election (two turds of unimaginable turdiness) into a PvE experience.
Let's just let PGI continue selling mechpacks for terrible gameplay experience until the game collapses, and leave a nice bed of roses on the grave.
Maybe in another 20 years a company without a few ego maniacs at the top will pick up the MW brand and make a good mechwarrior game.
