The number of people that say "Shut up & take my money!" Or something similar.
http://mwomercs.com/...eorder-is-here/

Yes there are mechs I want but honestly I'd really love to get new weapons & equipment to put on these mechs or get custom cosmetic geometry to personalize them, etc. I could go on for awhile yet.

The point I'm getting at is how funny it is here in general discussion many are gnashing their teeth saying "give us something other than mechs", etc, & they announce a mech & it's greeted by cheers of enthusiasm & ppl saying they'll buy it.

to be honest, I just buy what I want. I wanted the loyalty summoners? I got them.

Do what you feel is fun to you, not what others think as fun.

Don't misunderstand, this isn't a whine thread. I'm just commenting on how most forumites feel like they repressent the entire population.

Are you sure you counted correctly? Yeah just one person post a meme & used the exact phrasing but there's quite a few that imply or outright say they'll buy it.

It seems like the "Do you wanna buy a mech pack?" meme is alive and well.

why are the two concepts mutually exclusive?

Why does it not make sense for me to want (insert specific mech here) AND to want new content at the same time?

The amount of $ that PGI gets from mech packs, based on years of this game's development, is high enough such that PGI doesn't have any economic incentive to invest in anything except more mech packs.

i'm on a self imposed spending freeze until we get some Real New Content.
have not made a purchase since Mad IIc.
I know that was not long ago... I just had to have it.
but that's it... no more spending on this game for me.

Well, they should also realize that the game will hold people's interested longer (meaning MORE people will buy mech packs) if they invest in worthwhile content.. its just good business. If they continue on this path of only working on terribad content (Energy Draw lawl) I may have to send Morgan Freeman up to Vancouver to personally tell Russ that I will not be purchasing any more mech packs.

I spent $20 on Diablo 3 a couple weekends ago, that's the first time I've spent money on a video game since Clan Wave III last year. The only Loyalty reward I got this year was for the 100+ games. No, I don't want to buy a mech pack.

This would seem intuitive, but the important thing is to look at the actual outcome in-game to see how that compares to the expectation.

The reality of the matter is that, for whatever inexplicable reasons, many people are still buying lots of mech packs even in spite of the "terribad content" that you speak of. This is a part of why the game is in the state it is today and why it's been basically the same "state of the game" since 2012.

People are certainly allowed to waste money however they want but giving it to PGI for essentially redundancy and skins that doesn't lead to anything that can truly be considered new in this game is insane.

I never did. but why do you even care about people complaining? let them, it's their opinion, and if you think they're backwards, it's not your job to clarify for them.

Sorry for being blunt but I don't know how else to put it.

Not sure how this is funny - This is basically the entire gaming industry. One group cares about industry practices (General Discussion in this case, I suppose), and one group just wants more models (Which is just fine, actually).

The only group that's funny is the one where they say 'I'm not spending a dime unless they fix X,' only to shell out a fortune because the developer figuratively touched their knee and winked at them in a suggestive way. And that's less 'haha' funny, and more 'Stop making so much noise and then undermining the position of people who actually do give a crap' funny.

For MWO, I've been able to resist that temptation since the Urbanmech pack.

Admittedly, though, I did succumb to the first three Clan waves, Resistance 1 Level 2, and the Phoenix Project...I still feel bad about it.

if you feel bad about purchasing products that brought you satisfaction...

you should really think about playing another game then, which I imagine you already have.

Part of the issue is that the satisfaction was temporary. I would compare it to an addiction of sorts (I went cold turkey). That, and the realization that I was contributing to the problem I described above (PGI's economic incentive to keep pushing out mech packs exclusively).

In some cases there wasn't even satisfaction since the mechs were so bad (Mist Lynx is still sad).

I actually haven't been playing MWO for a while except for testing the PTS changes, while I wait for the grand scheme of things to actually change somewhat.

You know what is really funny? I still give PGI money even though almost every time they make some sort of announcement, or Russ says something on twitter, my first response is to laugh. I give them money despite the fact that if someone were to ask me what I thought of Mechwarrior: Online, it would be difficult for me to not rant for 30 minutes about PGI. That is true humor.
