Siesmic Range Scaling By Mech Weight

Would't it make sense to make the detection distance of Seismic sensors scale with the weight of the mech?
For example, You should be able to sense the 100-ton assualt moving at full distance, but not necessarily the 30 ton light mech.

What would make sense to me is to buff the range, but make the detection distance a percentage equal to the mech's tonnage. For example, with a 300 meter detection range, a 100 ton assualt would show up at 300 meters, while a 30 ton light would show up at 90.

Although we don't have to buff the range. But scaling detection distance by mech weight makes sense with a sensor that is designed to detect the seismic vibrations of the footfalls.
Heavier mech = more seismic signature to be detected.
