I'm guessing it's the splat factor on the missiles.
All in all, the mechs featured in the final rounds are also quite popular/common in QP.
Cheetahs, though, are far more common in QP than either Oxides or IIc's. At least in my experience

It has high-mounted hardpoints, making it better at poking (with cSPL or cERML).
It has craptons of missiles, if that's what the map calls for.
Though it also got way bigger. I haven't been following MRBC8, so I don't know if Jenner IICs are still relevant. In MWOWC, they were still at their pre-rescale size.

when i ran cheetahs i found that they all had the same problem, they just run too damn hot. a jenner iic with plenty of tubes can usually dispatch any mech before it overheats. cheetah overheats after a few shots, seldom enough to finish off a mech quickly. the only advantage the cheetah has is that its a good hit and run mech, and i think thats what leads to its popularity. you can really sneak around and look for soft targets.
spider seems to take the soft target hunter roll in the mwowc. since the mode was conquest, having spiders early on seeking cap, by the time they need to engage the enemy, there are weak points to expoit. and you dont have to worry about overheating.

The V line of Locusts(1V and 3V) are pretty good crit hunters as well. I personally prefer a LCT-3V with twin MG and twin MPLs, powered by an XL190, which, as we all know, seems to be powered by moonshine and energy drinks when stuffed in the Lolcust.

Hardpoints are higher mounted so they peek better. ECM is hardly useful at high skill level so cheetah would just drop it. Jenner has 35 tonner armor and structure vs cheetah's 30 tonner. Not a huge difference but in comp, every point of health counts. Cheetah has locked jumpjets. Jenner does not and so most comp players run only two or three instead of the maximum 6. Saves weight for a heat sink and ammo on missile builds.

Perhaps taking Jenner IICs was a mistake. They are easier to kill than cheatahs thanks to cheatahs magic secret damage distribution quirk.
EMPs spiders were obviously the way to go though. Just capping, scouting and harassing rather than big game hunting. And those MGs are pretty decent end game.
