Im not trying to whine, or talk smack, but the Grasshopper is obviously too big now. The tall part i can almost deal with, as the lore paints it as a tall mech to begin with, however a view of the side after looking at say a Victor (Assault) from the same angle shows how obvious the overscale is. It is easily an 85 ton-size mech. If its going to be THAT tall the width cant stay like that, it was also over-nerfed as a result. I had consistent numbers in my GRH (which were sort of ho-hum, but good) and ive watched them diminish over the months. Please scale the thing down a bit. Am i off base here?

Yes, it is too tall. It was from the start, though. And this rescale normalization with height and mass and volume didn't really help. Normalize all the things... Posted Image

'looks to my Adder that is the same size as a Hunchback IIC, and very close in size to a Catapult'

PGI's scaling is a cruel mistress.

Same thing about Black Knight, love it when available on C-Bills. Then my Black Knight is smacked over and over by nerf bat. After that it become bigger in rescale and now it's become rarely seen mech.

Rarely seen... that reminds me on something, I'm not sure but legends say there's a 50ton and a 55ton mech in this game that was designed as missile boat but wasn't seen in years. maybe just stories...

They say that everything is closer to realistic as far as volume is concerned, but i think thats a crock, when you spin the Assaults in the mech lab and then click on your hopper it looks enormous. It changed more than Barry Bonds before and after the friggin roids.

I still see both Black Knights and Grasshoppers, and both seems just as deadly as they were before.

I wouldn't mind the size if it could jump properly. It isn't called a Grasshover.

No it doesn't. I'm glad somebody is happy with it though.

The height now let me stand behind a warhawk/direwolf, and PPC over their head while they shield my torso. Posted Image

yeah and the zeus went from a B grade mech, to a white rhino with the hitboxes of a victor.

when I saw the rescale changes, I just laughed and laughed....

most clan omnis got smaller or squatter, and half the IS designs that already sucked became ever bigger targets, and lost their quirks.

Havent played an IS mech in ages

And the only one that can manage this sort of jumping is the J. The J, with the worst hard points of all the Hoppers. The J, of whom they nerfed the hardest by hitting its agility quirks.

If you really want to jump, you can do the identical build, with the same speed, same weapons, and similar jump height in a Quickdraw 5K or a Sparky, and get really close in an Enforcer. An even tougher mech that will still perform almost the same can be built in a Thunderbolt Se, as well as a Jester.

Rescale hurt the Grasshopper not just within the scope of the 70 toners but relative to quite a few other mechs too. Unique role and proper scale my rear.

PGI's scaling is a cruel mistress.

Well that's how volume works in reality

If you take a 10 10 10 cube, and make it just 20% bigger, it will weigh 70% more

So yeah, in reality anything below Assault/Heavy class would be absolutely meaningless, since you'd drop a Locust with 1 javelin missile and it couldn't even carry the same level armament as a modern tank

Agreed. Grasshopper should be tall, but lanky. Perhaps PGI wanted a chubby grain-fed one?

And yes, their scaling is utterly incomplete and inconsistent. I hope they do a second pass. We still have a gigantic Jenner IIC (35t) in comparison to Locust at (20t).

Perhap they were going for the nostalgia of the Ral Partha minis...

PGI based the rescale on height, weight, volume and 'PGI judgement'.

Guess where the rescale went awry.
