The devs couldn't handle it.
The players knew the devs couldn't handle it.
Where do we go now?

FW reminded us how well they planned the World Championships though.

*and by "I", I mean all other large premades who won games in the most frustrating ways possible, especially who faaaarrrrrmmmmed the potatoes and kept their scores very lowm but also the genrushing 12man scrubs, which also rates highly on frustration scale and has potential to keep their scores low.

No, it's not the 12-man teams. Honestly it was the reliance on capture-the-flag with gates that were/are the bane of FW. The whole "go though the gates and shoot the gen" idea was the second worst concept they could have come up with for an "End-game" play style. Repetition and predictability of game-play gives more of an advantage to our 12-mans than something more chaotic and free-for-all (i.e. more open-world). Likewise the non-varied play style leads to boredom and frustration.
But you can't tell PGI anything. PGI has hit the point where they have invested so much time and energy into what they have that they are unwilling (or unable) to see the failure in the product and to back out or change the whole damn thing. Honestly, the mistake they are making with FW is one that many companies make when holding onto unprofitable/poorly designed products. Rather than cutting their losses and dropping the product, moving to a redesign and relaunch they keep plodding away bleeding money sending good after bad. I remember studying this in university(which was many decades ago).
From what I remember: Don't throw good money after bad; never take into account the unrecoverable sunk costs of a product when making a decision about present or future expenditures on the viability of a product.

Quite. Your overlord is alive and well... except AFAIK he's not really around anymore and on hiatus like the top management "pros" at PGI...
I actually don't know, but I remember hearing his massive disappointment in Phase 3 and has effectively disappeared for the most part.

Instead of following up on Phase III with how very bad many in the community found it, PGI launched the World Championships which sucked up what seems to be a great multitude of their staff. As a result it took months and months before they had the (first of many) round-tables, 6 weeks to develop an action plan from that round-table, with a release date to be announced at MechCon.

Ironically, PGI isn't really capable of that, especially when stuff like that needs a good balance overlord (and we don't have one of those).

Quite simply teams like yours and the attitude is what wrecked CW
Not to mention OP clans mechs such as the Kodiak's Streak Cows, and amazingly hot laser Timbys that never seem to overheat.
And lest not forget poor base design, which got worse when whoever whined about gen rushes.
Oh wait a minute I think we know who.
I'm not going to debate or defend my position.
But I've witnessed most of the IS factions just simply vanish mainly because of this.
And random pugs attacking Clan worlds, well that ain't happening either.
No one want's to get steamed rolled.
And the last straw for me was the IS UAC nerfs.
Data collection my rear exhaust port was the reason we're told.
More than likely some twitter campaign was the real reason behind it.
Since PGI can't be bothered with their own forums.
So here's to you MS you killed it.
Hope your'e more than happy.

For a brief moment PGI had made changes that could have turned out very well for FW BUT after 7 short days they changed it back AND THEN made it worse.
NOW not only to tryhard teams get to go seal clubbing BUT they get paid real money in game currancy to do it.
PGI brain storming at its best..BUT hey they know more than the gamers that play the game..russ said so....
P.S......HAH,HAH,HAH

well, im not playing CW anymore and neither is most of the officer core and only 1/4th or 1/5th of the people are left.
Using the MS hate logic, CW should be taking off like a rocket ship in that power vacuum since MS was the problem. (it isnt)
Heres a clue, a raging clue
PGI is the problem
