Just wondered who here is actually going to Mechcon, and what are you hoping to get out of it?

Personally, I'm a little irritated that PGI (ok, 'that' Twitter feed) has gone quiet for the past few weeks essentially saving any news on updates, road-maps and development progress for announcement at Mechcon. I'm actually amazed they feel they can afford the continuing decline in player-base until December ticks round.

So, anyway, other than watching or partaking in the world tourny final and the 'announcement(s)' what are you hoping to get out of your investment in tickets etc?

I'm hoping for less disappointment and something to refresh my interest in the game.

I set my bar very low.

Are you sure that's the population, and not the death tolls of our hopes and dreams?

Mechcon seems to me to be nothing than an over hyped lan party for 13 hours. What other "convention" can you name that runs for only 13 hours? Comic con? Wonder con? Anthro con? Most of them do the friday, saturday and sunday track. PGI better drop a new game engine update that's for sure but like every one else the lower you set your expectations about any thing from pgi the less disappointment you'll have. Never believe any thing pgi says until you see it on the live server in the actual game client.

I'd have gladly have gone to mech con had it followed the normal time frame of other conventions except for a mere 13 hours that doesn't justify the travel expenses, hotel expenses, food expenses, and loss of a week's worth of income. Assuming they make it through 2017 and do another mechcon that does confirm to the normal three day convention I might go but its more likely I'd go to a different con with a good history such as anthrocon.

I'm looking forward to buying MechWarrior merchandise such as a t-shirt, meet other mech fans and play some 1v1 challenges etc.

I don't expect anything from Mechcon any power point or announcement will when the final goods arrive will feel like a place holder, because P.G.I talk things up good and then don't produce.

I don't think it's for nothing that there is the word Con in Mechcon.

People expecting great things will feel hollow by the end of it.

I will still keep playing the game, when you have Zero expectations and can except this is all, people will feel happier, or leave for good, even the forums might stop being to toxic, because the penny finally drops

I'm hoping to not spend $700 to go down there for disappointments.

I'll be honest based on PGI's track record. These "big announcements" will be nothing but "big disappointments". At least so far the game has not gone the direction I have asked and hoped for going on 3 years now. If it's not single/coop campaign on a new engine preferably Unreal 4 Engine (or updated cryengine) I'm going to be disappointed. If it is I'll be giddy! The only thing that could make me happier at that point is the Mad Cat MK II being announced along side that.

I'm going there for signatures and to meet the battletech community. I don't have high expectations though. I think we will get Solaris and slideshow on the skill tree. Neither will make me happy because for one we already have Solaris and the skill tree should have been the focus (if anything) last years party when they announced the e-sports tournament...

Hey but I'm going to get Alex's autograph! That man kills my wallet and gave battletech a much needed facelift!

As far as I see it, Mechcon is gonna be the finals for the "Grand tournament of tournaments that nobody but the participants care about"

As far as big reveals go, and considering what is though of as "content" around here, probably a new highly-anticipated mech like Madcat Mk2, or something like that. Also the new Energy draw system will be discussed in better detail.

Maaaybe a new map...

That's being realistic. Anything other than that would genuinely surprise me.

What I would love to be announced at Mechcon however, is this:

1) A complete rework of FW.
2) PVE
3) Procedural map generation for FW maps.
4) Custom mech geometry
5) Climbing into mechs and walking around the mech bay out of mech.
6) A new game mode

But as we all know.. that will never happen.. :-(

Do they have a road-map or something? I haven't seen the entirety of the forum though, but i think it's nice if they have some sort of yearly plan of what they aim to accomplish in the year, other than just release dates of mechs.
