Mechlab
Variant Loadouts: Allow players to save configurations and switch between them. If required items in the configuration are not available, allow the player to buy the items required.
Unit Decals: Allow players to create and equip their own unique decal for their unit.
Upgraded weapons: make new upgraded weapons available for purchase as the timeline progresses.
Ammo Types: Ability to change the ammo type which weapons fire. Ex. LBX-AC-10 can change between slugs or shot.
Weapon Loadout Labels: Label the weapons to include their current location on the mech. Ex. If two SPL's are equipped, label each with the arm or torso they inhabit.

Pilot
Customizable Jumpsuit/whatever else you guys can think of...
Customizable Pilot: Helmet, Face, Jumpsuit, Etc...
Pilot Profile Picture: A picture of the players pilot. This picture appears on the screens of other players when VOIP is used in-game. Also, add an option for players to use it as their profile pic online and offline.

Mech
Bargraph Damage indicator: Ability to switch between different readouts which display the player/enemy mechs health.
Custom Crosshairs: Adds the ability to equip and use custom crosshairs while piloting their mech.
Mech resizing: Resize mechs to be more proportional to their class.
Mech speed: light mechs don't exactly look nor feel like they're going at 130 km/h to me, though it could just be my perspective. I leave the criticism to you guys.
Cockpit Damage: Adds cracks, sparks, broken glass and noticable damage to the cockpit when it sustains damage.
Cockpit monitors: Displays more useful information on cockpit displays.
Extended Customizable Cockpit: Choose the information which is displayed on which monitor.

Matches
Additional gametypes: Search and destroy, VIP escort, breakout, convoy assault, king of the hill(s), capture the flag, base war, etc
Field repair: Addition of Mechbays/ Mobile Fieldbases to specific gametypes
Field spawn: Addition to the mechbays suggestion: mechbay spawn - it seems kind of weird that if you're defending you have to be dropped in to your own base. Spawn mechbay turrets to compensate for lack of dropship.
More/Larger maps: While we have an impressive number of maps already, variety is what keeps the battlefield fresh.
AI Pilots: Addition of AI piloted mechs to fill in the slots of missing players in CW.
CW Drop-ins: Allows players to drop into ongoing matches. This replaces any AI pilot occupying that slot and spawns the player on the map normally. Ejecting and/or leaving game once downed does not spawn an AI. Nor if an AI is downed, the player cannot join in that slot.
A campaign or PvE Mode: Either a full blown story driven campaign or something which allows players to work together towards defeating their IS/Clan opponents. Contracts, full blown battles, skirmeshes, etc...
Tournament grounds: An arena would expand on MWOs already arena type play-style and allow players to battle in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and/or 4v4 combat. This game-type would allow for smaller maps as the purpose is mostly, if not entirely, to allow players to brawl in close-quarters combat.
General chat: allows players to converse between one another in general.
Freelancer chat: allows freelance players to converse with one another in CW.

UI
"Accept All" and "Decline All" buttons: Allows players the option to accept/decline all friend requests, and/or any other notifications, with a single button click.

Extras
Destructable environment: Ability to destroy objects, structures and environment.

Bad idea topic or what? Talk about wasted effort if any of these things were done.

Well the AI pilots isn't a bad idea. A couple other maybe as well.

Unit decals will be a thing eventually, my guess will be some time Q2 - Q3 next year. Already have my submission ready to go when that goes live.

Even for these forums, that's a kinda special level of saltiness.

Ignore him, OP. Most of the ideas on that list are quite good, and a lot of them are things others have been calling for literally for years (saving configurations and swapping ammo were certainly discussed all the way back in 2012, and the bar graph HTAL damage indicator is literally a 25 year old idea).

If PGI suggested them you would love then. :D

But, yeah, a lot just won't work in MWO.

Ya variant load out saves is something time and effort should be spent on. Those calling for stockmode special attention are happy to?

I would love to have a customizable pilot as well as a customizable profile pic that pops up whenever you talk to people over VOIP.

Well PGI thought it was worth the effort to make stock mode. Multiple saved loadouts is a commonly asked for feature, and something PGI can monetize.

Maybe I've just accepted that the things I want will never come, but I try not to be totally dismissive of what others want. ;)

Stock mode...

Yea pushed by Battletech Purist and used like ... by even less then the 1 percent.

I totally am inline with the saved loadouts. :) But that might conflict with PGI's want you to buy multiple mechs thing.

You would still need to buy 3 for Mastery. I don't see this cutting into PGI's money sinks.

Thinking PGI will actually add stuff that we have asked for over and over for years now. Trust me, we've asked for HTAL, ammo switching, unit dekkles, cockpit damage, new game modes, and basically all of the other things you listed here before. Over and over. And all PGI has ever said is that they are "thinking about it", if they acknowledge it at all. Don't forget that they, apparently, lost the only good coder they have so they have no idea how to add new weapon systems/do ammo switching. But all we get are mech packs, and the "e-sports experience".

Sorry, but that's possible only in fan-made Mechlabs, not in MWO. PGI needed weeks to add simple "Trial 'Mechs" filter and months to add "Favourite 'Mechs" filter.

Only for MCs, I would imagine.

Russ Bullock said that MWO will move in time - eventually. But they want to add all those 'Mechs that can be added with existing technology.

We have been waiting for years to have LBX Autocannons with switchable ammo. Sadly, the only man, who knew how to program this, left PGI years ago.

Really, this is just a detail, considering that you see the pilot just a few seconds in the beginning of the game ...

HTAL is LosTech. What do you think that you are doing? Playing some old MechWarrior 2, 3 or 4?

View PostMedivalJ, on 29 October 2016 - 03:56 PM, said:

Custom Crosshairs: Adds the ability to equip and use custom crosshairs while piloting their mech.

I wouldn't even need custom crosshairs - I would be absolutely okay with the option to change the colour. I hate playing and having light blue crosshairs against light blue background or light yellow crosshairs against ochre background.

View PostMedivalJ, on 29 October 2016 - 03:56 PM, said:

Mech resizing: Resize mechs to be more proportional to their class.

Sorry, but today's 'Mechs are result of exactly such resizing (happened in Summer). If you don't like it, you are out of luck.

Personally I think it's okay.

You are not playing some old MechWarrior 3.

Cockpit monitors: Displays more useful information on cockpit displays.

For years we have had empty monitors with "NO SIGNAL" on them (with occassional ammo counter and Heat Sinks status display).

Do you know how much effort it cost PGI to program what you can see on those displays now?

This is not your old MechWarrior 2.

After years of deliberating, PGI added a new gamemode: Domination. Somehow, it plays exactly as Assault and Skirmish.

That's so 1990s ...

After all, you have respawns in CW. That should be enough.

If new maps will be as bad as existing maps, then it really won't matter.

Functional AI - that's the problem. But PGI is working on it and maybe in the two or three years ...

I believe that Russ Bullock said that CW is more or less complete as is. Maybe PGI will change some details, but don't expect some big changes.

Maybe in the next decade.

On the other hand, HBS BattleTech will have it in May 2017. I have backed that game.

Solaris 7 gamemode? PGI is thinking about it and maybe it will be ready in some nebulous future.

You really didn't believe it when PGI promised it in back in 2009 or so, did you? Well, I must admit, I believed it too.

And see, it's 2016 now and you can step on fences and knock down trees. Isn't it great?

Look, boy. PGI explicitly told you: "Not your father's MechWarrior."

So stop asking for impossible things ...

But if you want to easily change layout, the only way now is the buy mech bay and the same mech. And I am sure there are people that do that.
