Making signature larger

Does any1 have some helpful hints in making signatures. My challenge is it seems that my sig pic size stays way to small. I edited the pic to the 720x80 then tried to stretch it and save it larger. Lol sig comes out the same
size when i post the url. I notice alot of really cool sig that are larger and fill bottom of si area. I would like to increase my sig and put a hunchie or something in the middle. Any tips or help would be suhweet....
