They aren't taking away pod quirks on the older 'Mechs unless those pod quirks were out of line (i.e. Night Gyr). They are just adding more quirks to the pile so if you want to run a stock Omni, you get some compensation for doing so.

This is how it should be working. This is even how quirks used to be on IS BattleMechs before the whiners got PGI to turn all of those split quirks into pure generic quirks.

Actually, PGI did take away a few pod quirks for the Summoner...missile and ballistic ones to be exact. That's funny, since it is the 2 ERPPC build that is the "high performer" build right now.
