Okay so I'm wondering what PGI has in store for the future of MWO, both near and further down in the future. All I know for sure is there will be a Christmas/New Year event as usual and probably an announcement at Mechcon. To be honest I feel very demotivated to play with nothing to really look forward to. Didn't there used to be a road map page that briefly explained their plans and progress? I remember something about Pilot leveling up or something. I think this may be the PSR, but I interpreted it as in similar to many other Multiplayer/RPG games where you grind for XP (not wins/kills) to level up.
Am I missing something? Because at this point, I feel like I'm gonna be inactive yet again and only come back on said Chistmas/New Year events, which I hope I don't end up doing.

Yeah, that's pretty much the feeling I have as well. "Wait until Mechcon" is PGI's catch-all public relations response, "content" tease, advertisement, and sales pitch. The November road map is up in announcements, but there is nothing to get excited about in it. So yes, in light of this utter LACK of excitement and/or presumed build up to eventual disappointment, a collective "meh" does seem to have descended over the MWO community. Get used to it for another couple of months I guess.

I think what it needs is some rougelike elements, maybe generated daily quests? or how about single player mode? or maybe a new game mode? Personally I'd like a goal that does not involve going around randomly in the map and hunt specific objectives instead. I'm not counting Assault mode since people treat it like a glorified skirmish most of the time. Maybe bring Faction Play maps to the Quick Play queue? the assets are already there so its a nice change of pace.

I've started to think of Russ a bit like the Donald Trump of game development.
"I own games. I'm a developer; I know how to develop. Nobody can develop like I can develop. Nobody. And the developers in Canada will tell you that. I develop the best games. And my name helps a lot."
So in light of that I bet Mechcon is gonna be amazing, it's going to be so amazing, you won't believe how amazing it will be. It will be amazing.

See, I look at his twitter feed, and I get the feeling he thinks of himself as an Elon Musk type. Combine that and his comments over the years makes me think he really does think of himself as having done something truly great and amazing on the level of manned space flight (like developing a video game based on other video games) and is a bit bewildered at the fact that some people fail to recognize that greatness in both what he has done and in himself. I get the vibe that the negativity or even mere criticism truly does bewilder if not outright flabbergast him. Whereas when Trump gets criticized he gets confrontational and the redirects. Russ/Elon doesn't do that. Go watch old townhalls. When something critical is implied or more rarely outright voiced he gets physically uncomfortable and he makes this wtf expression that quickly becomes a sort of open eyed look of "how can you not see the brilliance of what I am telling you?" Musk does the same thing when he does his little PR chats.

Really?
I look at his Twitter feed and about the only thing I get from it is that he is a Canucks fan, and that he thinks SpaceX is great.
I can't recall the last time he twitted about his game in a positive way using the future tense.

Good point. Lack of future tense positivism...very good point. Ok, Trump it is.
(edit: That was sarcasm btw: Forward thinking exclamations of positivism is all Trump does. Its gonna be huge, the best!)

I would hope daily challenges do get implemented into the game in the near future. With the recent events like Mechtoberfest, and the Halloween event we had those challenges. And these made me come back to MWO for better or worse. Many RPGs use this mechanic, and it is a good way to get free in game items, and to make the player base return.
Everything else is hazy at best. But, one thing is for certain, MECHPACKS!
