get an ultraviolet and a couple dire b omnipods, and you have wannaBan3. which if my math is right can take up 8 uac2s and about 10 or so tons ammo. you loose set of 8 but who cares you have 8 uac2s.

you have the option of getting a w or s head omnipod for backup laser, and there is the ct missile hardpoint if you want an srm5 and a ton of ammo. or both if you wont miss half your ammo. or some sinks because those guns will be very hot.

i expect to see them off in the distance throwing what is effectively horizontal rain at mechs that cant return fire. i do expect to see them fight off squirrels. now uac2s are terrible with jam time, but with 8 i figure it would be hard to jam them all. and if you are worried bring some lb2s instead.

what i fully expect though is a mediocre build that is hella fun.

I have also seen folks do uacs2 with 2 gauss.

I really do not like seeing 100 tons of armor more than 400m from the team. It is hard to be the point of the spear in pugs, but fire support is supporting team not taking shots of opportunity when random mechs pop their heads up while the player stays in their hidey hole. They are also easy targets for a light pack or a single good light.

PS this build was used a lot when the dire first came out, it got replaced with the uac5/10 build. There are some FW maps with an organized team where the dire can be nasty on defense.

I did see one of the comp teams uses HBIIc with uac2 play near their assaults gauss erppc. The HBIIc could do just as well because they could keep up with their team as well as pop tart/ they could really help more in a close game, but they would get less damage in a steam roll (either way). Also the jennerIIc and HBIIc are the first 2 mechs in the package so it is a pretty decent buy in the origins package $40 (you also get to sell of some xl engines). They are also both available for Cbills.

i for one am not the type to sit in a hole. close support is best support. uac2s can totally win the dps game in a brawl, not sure about the heat game though.
