im starting to call stuff like this pirate modding (gamedev). creating a mod (or indie game) on an ip you dont have rights to. its up there with pirate radio and pirate pirates. not that other kind of piracy were not supposed to talk about, its something different. and me with my libertarian tendencies have nothing against this sort of thing.

But this is a very good news...

Not exactly, basically it was conflict of interest once a couple of the guys who started MWLL started working for Crytek, which MWO is using their engine.

Officially, Wandering Samurai devs stated they received no such cease and desist order. It is community rumor and conjecture, only. Some of the mid to lower level devs were pissed that they overall group decided to shut down in order to "not split the player base," and were understandably angry.

Are you using Windows 10?
In any case, how were you able make it run?
Absolutely simple.
I have win8.1.
The problem with old games is that they cannot recognize (see) your graphic card.
So the trick is to put a graphic wrapper into the main folder of each game and setting it up to your tastes.
http://dege.freeweb.hu/
From this link download version 2.53.
YOu will find the exe and a few files in 2 folders
Put exe and every file in the main folder of the games (mw3.exe or mw4.exe or mw4merc.exe etc.)
Run dgvoodoosetup.exe, click on the slash bar on the right of the "config folder/running instance", and then "play" with the set up as you like the general/glide/directx sections
Remember to run as administrator every exes.
I'm having tons of fun since last weekends.
It works also for mechcommander 2
Sadly I didn't manage to run mw2/mw2merc/mw2GB window version. It's because they have a 16bit exe
Anyway it is possible to run them using the dos versions with doxbox.

off topic:
For Mechwarrior3 I have used dxwnd which in my personal opinion has been very simple since it can fix all the graphical issues as well as all the timing related issues (bouncing APC bug). I posted a tutorial about dxwnd and Mech3 here a while back.

Just fire up the game, create your account ingame so you can join servers and set your options .
Then quit the game and start the actionmap launcher to setup all the nice keyboard/mouse/joypad/joystick settings you want to have .
Then you start again with full control and a hopefully levitating desk (morn´wood alarm!^^) from pure "sim" joy .
Tried it out 2 days ago, setup took me about 8 minutes, all in all .
Gameplay is very refreshing
