So we're on Terra Therma on Domination, and i was that traditional UAC5 king crab, though i had an AMS, which is nice.

I know how it goes, the one that pushes out, kicks the enemy team off the circle usually wins, so i urged my team to push out. We kind of did, but as we were on that divide, just a hill between us and them, i pushed out -- all on my own, i don't care if my team follows, i just did -- I think they just followed, and i was lucky they did.

Essentially like "leroy-jenkins", or "geronimo" to certain death, that's what i did, death can eat it's heart out cause i'm gonna die with a bang, screw everyone else. And luckily they just followed. Of course in the middle of the team, i popped a UAV before i died. If that didn't worked, i'm probably eligible for reporting due to misconduct.

In the end we won, and i was thanked for it for leading the charge, i only did 328 damage though -- pathetic for an assault, for a king crab. But i got thanked for SPEARHEADING at the end of the match.

Is that really spearheading? Essentially just tanking a lot of damage while your team is following you, and shooting from behind? So sometimes do i just lead the push, even when

I think it's kind of fun to do that, and it feels so awesome even if i didn't do lots of damage. Gonna get me an Atlas.

Yes. This is the kind of assault that wins matches. Not because they bring the most guns - that's part of it, of course - but the ability to absorb enemy fire so that your team can dish out the punishment is what wins games.

Put it this way. You're in a 100 ton mech. 620+ points of armor and then some structure. If you torso twist like a boss and make the enemies shave off every bit of your armour before going down, that's a HUGE amount of heat they've expended to bring your shiny *** down. Which means that your team, if they charge with you, now only has to deal with an enemy that cannot fire back effectively - and likely has lost a significant amount of armour during the initial charge.

So yes. If you're doing this, I salute you. Despite how much vitriol I have for heavies and assault mechs, those that are doing their jobs correctly (as much as we lights and mediums do our jobs, which is keeping your rear CTs safe from enemy flankers), those that do their jobs properly earn my respect...for now.

Honestly, i couldn't torso-twist or arm-shield, well i'm a dakka king crab so i only stare them to death, my weapons are frequently off cooldown so there's not much time between shots.

Even if you're not actively torso twisting, the KGC's shape makes sure that people who don't aim (read: most of MWO pugs) will hit your STs or arms if they're shooting from outside the frontal 60 degree arc.

Ah, my 6th messenger, you should have been with CWI back in the glory day before and during Tukayyid 2.. Spearheading was really a thing back then, pushing though that open gate on invasion, your team behind you, your lights and shadow cats jumping the other gate to flank and kill gens..

Ahhhh.. the melody of your commander's voice calling targets, the screams of the called target crying in frustration as it goes down in seconds..

Those were truly the golden days of MWO..

Now, you get congratulated for doing something an assault should normally do, since it's so rare these days..

I want FW to be playable again.. Posted Image

It's a rare sight, but you're piloting an assault mech correctly. Dealing most dmg on your team doesn't always equal good teamwork or skill. Paving the way for your team, that may have been unsure about pushing, made for a win later.

You are the hero that we need. We need more people bringing the fight up close, more brawling and less Whack-A-Mech. 10/10 would have joined you in my Centurion without hesitation (while pressing this big fat button)

All I will say is this. F7 on New Terra Therma is a trap.

That is all.

With the erppc summoner and folks using gauss and erppc, folks are waiting for their team mates to flush the quail and then shooting. Many players love this because they can get good damage and then make fun of your score in a loss.

If you can read the map and the players to get them to follow as you advance, this is a deadly combo. I have had good luck with gauss erppc HBR, but not because of the loadout. It is the ability to advance and not be getting blown away because of the ecm. The rest of the team follows my locks. It is really sad when you have a fire support "sniper" build and you are getting called a LJenkins, because you moved off the back row. Dakka like you have is good to great at all ranges so you are not as hindered by random teams and maps.

Group Q or organized CW requires what you are doing with "push" oriented builds and good units will appreciate your ability to put the task first (even if they still pat themselves on the back for the damage you created for them).

Salute
