If you can out-trade an enemy at current distance,i see no reason that any weight class should just wait for brawling or any specific roles if they have long range weapons in hand.

Erh, how about "No" ?
Skill ceiling to play Locusts well is very....very high . Tons of work, mostly very little reward .
Also, manymany people simply think "bigger is better" .
If you really have not experienced yet just how fast a KDK goes down once it is spotted - and just a tad bit careless - you really have not seen much in Game

.

Guys, everytime U talk about how easier a KDK goes down, U say when spotted. That's the KDK strenght: he needs to be focused by 3-4 enemies to go down. and however not so easily. That means U leave 3-4 enemies alone.
It's supposed it's a teamplay game, that's why I've started this 3d. Cos minding a team tonnage economy, 100 tons taken away from battle to snipe with a single weapon is a waste of tonnage. and no need to be experienced players to understand it....

Erh, well...
For one, yeah, it needs to have been seen to be taken out . You know, its kinda hard to take down a 'mech you dont see ?

2nd : Does not necessarily need 3, 4 'Mechs for KDK to be taken down . Depends on Situations much .
For instance, a Sniper may be prety good at taking out a KDK's shoulder ( its friggin easy even at a distance ! ). *BOOM* half its firepower gone, as well as pretty vulnerable for an engine explosion . Have whatever 'Mech who knows how to grab target Info get behind that KDK, and he is done for pretty quick . Moreso when it was also possible to pour a bit of dmg. into its other shoulder already....preferrably from behind ofc .
Or you have 'Mechs opening them up from behind .
Or, a good LRM 'Mech simply shreds them/opens them up so they become a oneshot basically .
Say, you have not really seen much in this Game yet, have you ?
