I think you're right. By it leaving beta in the state that it was in, there came this implicit assumption that the game was "good enough" to not be a beta-stage game. Thus, 4 years later, things like descriptions never got added because it wasn't in beta anymore.

How to advertise

At least if your focus is mech packs and skins you could put fourth a little effort in selling them like shown below. This video is just for a damn skin!



And here is how they advertise a hero!



If you're going to act like a MOBA at least advertise like one.

Or these since it's the only place we might ever get lore!

Blizzard Overwatch is obviously overkill. I understand that PGI is not as rich as Bizzard, and is not expecting new mechs to be sold to 2 million people to recoup the cost of animation.

But that's honestly fine, I am just asking for a paragraph or two descriptions of what makes the mech special. Or in a more practical term, what makes you want to spend money?
