How would you guys want the Civil War to Play out in a CW/FW environment? If we got buckets how would we divide up everyone? This is not really much of a Clan vs IS fight.

Or just keep FW as is and have buckets be Clan vs IS still?

You arent jumping or getting anything, get it through your thick skulls.

PGI isnt actually moving the timeline for anything but another chassis to sell you.

This is kinda tricky since their many clans the became part the Inner Sphere and like 2 to 3 invader clans, but their alot of

alliances between the houses, to avoid confusion most likely we would need to have the IS houses in Alliances, Spheriod Clans, and the Invading Clans as three distinct buckets for players to choose from still haven't thought farther yet.

There will be a Fed Suns, Lyran Commonwealth event at some point, after the single bucket system is introduced, and if there are enough people.

When you get to the Civil war era, things get very muddy tech line wise... As you start to see Clan mechs in House RAT's and MU's, just as you start to see IS tech in Clan RAT's and MU's.... Not to mention the less then well thought out mix-tech mechs....

As I sated in another thread some time ago, going forward to that era gives PGI some choices:

1) Burn the Lore, and go from scratch
2) Try to follow the lore, creating mixed tech line lances (easier to do, and opens up more $$$ to PGI)
3) Just say F*** it, and not bother, just keep circling the current drain.

If I had to guess, I'd go with either option 1 or 2, with a heavy leaning on 1, due to the current lack of FedCom.

I really think you're all funny that you think there is some timeline or something.

We don't have any lore
We don't have IS vs Clan match limitations in the games most played bucket
Clan mechs are nothing like the TT monsters in the board games ( fine by me I was always ok with clan = IS)
We've fought the battle of Tukakaydd (how ever you spell that) 3 times and magically the timeline reset (yet the mechs didn't)

The CW gamemode is set in the timeline of 3051 and it will never change it will loop like ground hog day for eternity.

Next, no chassis, variant, mech, or whatever determines a timeline because again it does not exist. It's all about just selling pokérobits.

We will never get new weapons Paul does not and will not do them.

So moving forward it's all about the mech profile, the hardpoints, and their locations.

If you haven't figured that out yet well then keep being potato, because LRM's are so meta and OP right? ;)

Timelines were only ever used in TT to create scenarios and have certain balance rules. They do not exists in a mechwarrior game that only takes mechs from BT and nothing else.

I would think that if there is a time jump then Operation Bulldog would be the logical target period. It fits within MWO much better than the Civil War does.

Though I found reading all about the FedCom Civil War in my BT novel collection, I'm another against moving the timeline.
And if there was a vote to cast I'd vote for moving the timeline BACK. To 3025~3045.

But not like my 'vote' would matter anyhowPosted Image

I was kind of surprised they didn't go with the mixed tech options from the start. I really was expecting them to balance everything by allowing IS mechs to mount Clan weapons and them to introduce late invasion IS weapons tech such as the IS versions of the UAC's and Streaks. Ironically I think IS players would find that being able to mount Clan weapons wouldn't actually be all it was cracked up to be when they found they had to deal with the extra heat, beam durations and such Clan pilots have to deal with.

The thing is that many (majority?) people don't think that way. They see "same damage for less weight plus longer range" and the mental number crunching stops right there.
If IS were allowed to mount Clan systems then except for AC20 no IS pilots would mount IS weapon systems.

To beat the horse once more, allowing IS/Clan mixed team battles has always been a mistake and it could have been prevented from the beginning (IMHO) if the timeline started 3045 with complete segregation of IS and Clan and allowing all of us to have an 'IS character' and a 'Clan character.' And it would have given the developers that much more time to work on additional features that may have been polished on release and entertaining to all. But I digress.

im all for accelerating the timeline, get it into 2:1 or 3:1 territory. move forward a year every 4-6 months. plenty of time to bring out new chassis and weapons amd get well into the 3060s before the plug gets pulled. pgi is likely saving it for when they get desperate for funds and will slap some minimally viable stuff together at the last minute. were kind of in that post tukkayid boring time where nothing happens. im worried about the license expiring before we get anything cool if we continue at the current rate.

pgi is following the tried and true stategy

minimal viable product
???
profit!

problem is they are stuck at ??? desperately trying anything they can do to get the player base up. anything of course except for improving the game. because that would take effort, vision, time, money, etc. they want to be the next starcraft but ignore the fact that blizzard was just trying to make a game, it was good and the e-sports people came to it, and not the other way around. you cant put the cart before the horse like that and expect to succeed.

By mixed tech we mean factions using other factions mechs with those weapons on those mechs....

THough that could be interesting in MWO...they could do sub faction mechs and bonus for running lore mechs to your faction....

Say Clan Ghost Bear alright.

-80 to 90% tonnage cost for Kodiak, Executioner, Mad Dog, Viper, and Fire Moth (if we get it)-
- 100% tonnage cost for all other Clan Mechs-
-110% to 120% tonnage cost for IS Mechs-

^ That could be something interesting.

CK,

Please give me a reason to think that PGI is even aware of the existence of the "Civil War". A forum post, a twitter post a loose comment spoken at one of their various presentations; anything. They don't seem to be aware of lore in any sense, and you think they have a clue about this or a way to apply it to the current game?

Of course they know about the lore.

They Just Don't Care.

Honestly only the people who have been pushing for PVE since the beginning of MWO are the only ones who cared about lore and immersion.

Posted Image

Pvp has always been the minimally viable part of video games since the beginning.
