Look, I treat your game like a free to play game. I enjoy it excessively, I decide to contribute to your wallet today, makes me a pay to play player (I have bought things before, but it was cosmetic 'stuff'). Your company wants to be associated with "I just bought this package and the **** chassis they just sold me didn't even have double heat sink and endo-steel".. Guys.. ****.. all the mechs in the pack I just bought need at least Endo-Steel and DHS to feel like I didn't get poo.. Look you need to make single heat sinks or Standard structure a thing somehow or stop ripping off your paying peeps k? Because having a grind on the other end of pay to play is bad.. How do I recommend this to others really?

"Don't buy the bundle lights, you need an ECM mech just to do teamwork, and if you want to buy anything it'll be personalizing your mech, all the paint costs money too.."

"Don't buy the bundle assaults, you will have to immediately spend 5 Million C-Bills on every chassis for **** any idiot needs to immediately be ton for ton on par with the playerbase".

Your in-game currency is too valueable, my honest opinion.

Stock mech loadouts are straight from BattleTech...it's one of the few lore things PGI has stuck to and I don't think they intend to change that (nor should they).

That's why you need to read the fine print on purchases.

When your buisness needs "Be sure to read the fine print" as a reputation.

I want things to succeed, lets talk about what drives new people away.

Well, "caveat emptor" has been a thing for a few thousand years, no?

The thing that probably drives new players away here is the lack of tutorials (which has been helped by the Academy or whatever it's called) and steep learning curve. The mech action is pretty good and you don't really need to buy anything except mechbays.

This is Mechwarrior. It is part of a 32 year old franchise. Your lack of knowledge about it is hardly PGIs fault.

It is kind of rough? Yes. Does PGI do a ****** job of making a lot of in-game information readily available? Without a doubt. Did the disparity in tech, both faction and year wise, make Mechwarrior a questionable choice for a Free-2-Play model game? Probably.

Should you have learned more about the universe before spending money? Yes. More about the game? Yes.

Have you been cheated? No.

lol I played Mechwarrior 2 on PC and also have still have a version of the game played on SNES that most probably never saw

"How do you feel about the situation in the Inner Sphere?", that line will be burned into my head like a bad nursery rhyme I asked that guy for missions soo much, don't make me go find my old console for the exact quote.

My lack of knowledge has little to do about the grind designed into this game, it has nothing to do with story or else, why sell crap? -playerbase

Battletech stats are battletech stats.
If you want to get a sense of what any variant involves, whether endo or standard structure, you can check it out on sarna.net

Here for example is the upcoming linebacker:
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Linebacker

The one mech pack I picked up for this game.

So you payed money. In a F2P game.

That you didn't yet understand the mechanics of.

That is entirely your fault.

The current PGI pricing structure does not take into consideration C-Bills cost of the mechs nor upgrade needed.
You can buy a 100 tons Kodiak (probabily the best mech in the game) with a Clan 400XL engine (about 6 millions C-Bills only the engine), Endo Steel structure and DHS or 30 tons Urbanmech with a 60 STD engine, standard structure and SHS and it will cost you the same (20$ for the base pack). Kodiak is almost "ready to use", for Urbanmech you will need better engines and all the upgrades.
So right now these are elements you have to consider when you decide to buy a mech pack.
Also clan mech could be potentially very expensive: Marauder IIC base pack has the same 340 STD engine for the base variants, if you do not have spare Clan XL engines it will cost you a lot of C-Bills to buy a 340 or similar sized Clan XL one.

Friend....If you're already pissed of by the bad value return ratio of some of PGIs "content"....you realy, realy shouldn't have invested anything into this company.
Minimum (or mostly barely or non) viable content is the lead theme of this company.

The need to upgrade structure and sinks may be a reason that Mech Pack purchases come with an added 6.5M CBills...?

So you're salty about the fact that A ) You get the lore loadouts for the mechs when you buy them, and B ) You didn't actually read what you were buying. Wow.

Posted Image

This is a lesson. Learn to read everything about a purchase before actually spending money. And no, PGI should NOT change them to have DHS or Endo/Ferro when they didn't have it in lore. If they started doing that, they would also be changing up the loadouts. That means RIP canon variants in all likelihood.

I agree that single heatsinks and standard structure should be balanced against DHS and Endo, it's bad design to have equipment in the game that isn't worth using.

A game is well designed when every choice is hard, players in MWO should be thinking "Hmm, will this build be the strongest with Single or Double heatsinks?", and the answer should be single as often as double. Same with every other piece of equipment.

However, the stock builds are based on lore and they would suck no matter what PGI did, so the need to rebuild the mechs is unavoidable. It would be nice if there was some kind of place where the stock builds had a reason to exist gameplay wise.

Oh look another thread full of people that stopped playing, or worse people that still do, telling others to not support the game.

O.P There is plenty of information about the mech your buying, pre order pages, just putting the pointer over the mech in the mech sales section, is another way, if people buy blind, why is it P.G.I's fault, that people don't read things or research.

You also don't need ECM to do team work..

Your in-game currency is too valueable, my honest opinion.

You clearly don't play any WarGaming product, Eve, F2PMMOs, etc... MWO is by far not the only F2P title, or game in general, that allows the purchase of content that must be further enhanced through additional expenditures of in-game currency and play time, nor is it the remotely close to being the worst... 'offender'. And those titles are more popular, exponentially... So you don't exactly have a proven correlation supporting your argument.

We get it, you spent money because in your specific case you wanted to be lazy... Ok, that's fine. Clearly you made a blind investment and ended up not getting what you wanted - That's all on you, chief. It's not like information concerning what each and every variant comes with isn't posted directly in the same section you must pass through to make the purchase (facepalm). Not MWO's fault, nor a 'bad' business model; It's consumer ignorance. PGI's not the bad guys because you didn't get everything you assumed you would, end of story.

Well... Wargaming's money bought tanks can't be upgraded. It's part of the balance (I think there's maybe one or two exceptions to that).

He is complaining about the need to spend so much C-Bills after buying some mechs. I think it's a valid point. It creates direct frustration from the purchase.

There's still the hilarious amount of grinding for crew skills though.
