I apologize if this should've been posted somewhere else, or if there's already a solution.

I have only one option for my resolution, despite my monitor's ability to support up to 1920x1080. It kinda bothers me that I can't go up that high.

Is that the only option being shown in the drop-down menu ?
Did you set anything to write-protected/read only in the MWO-folder ?
What resolution are you using for your desktop ?
Are you using Fullscreen-, Full Window- or Window-mode ?
Which Windows/graphics card are you using/what are your systemspecs ?
Which DX version are you using ?
Are your drivers up to date?

Yes, that's the only option.
I haven't set anything to read only myself. Generally, if something is read only, the system did that itself.
My desktop resolution is 1920x1080.
I'm using full window.
My system specs are:
Mobo ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
Processor AMD FX-8300
GPU AMD Radeon R7 360 series
RAM sticks G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 4GB x4 (total RAM 16GB)
I update my drivers regularly. Last time I tried, which was last night, my system said my drivers were up to date.

Weird.

Try e-mailing support about this. Something strange is going on.

Yeah, I've seen similar complaints as early as February. To be completely honest, the fact that I can't set my resolution outside the client (where I can't change it at all) is just stupid.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that this happens regardless of DX version I use, though I do most commonly and currently use DX11.

Standalone or Steam? Go to your saved games folder\mwo\profile\pilot's name and delete attributes.xml file.

If it continues, open up attributes w/notepad and edit the following:
<Attr name="OptionCfg.r_Height" value="1080"/>
<Attr name="OptionCfg.r_Width" value="1920"/>

Update motherboard drivers, as the system may not be providing necessary information.

Are you using any overlays? Disable AMD Evolved, Play.TV (which is installed by default with AMD drivers, TS and any other 3rd party software, and double check any 3D software.

My problem is with the standalone client.

I've already tried deleting my file, it did nothing. As it happens, those lines with height and width are completely absent in my attributes.xml file. Would adding them in perhaps fix my issue?

No overlays on my end.

Are they actually missing? For one reason or another it sounds like something is blocking the game from obtaining that information. Add them in. For mine they were near the bottom, right after

<Attr name="OptionCfg.r_Driver" value="DX11"/>

The 1280x720 is the default resolution when there is no setting. Are you running MWO w/Admin privileges? Do you have MWO installed in the default installation location? If it is, create a new location and move it there, ie games\mechwarrior online.

There may be an overlay or another program affecting it that you may not be aware of. One player had to do a clean install of Win10, then as he added programs he would check MWO. After the 4th or 5th program he located the problematic program. Uninstalled it, no issue, install it issue was re-introduced. It had to do with the OS recognizing, displaying and running MWO in 1080p instead of 720p.

The above is just one example of a program, or the DLL of that program interferring with another.

Edit : Sorry, trying to hit several things for you to try, one step at a time.

So I tried switching MWO to DX9 again (probably should've mentioned that I had problems with both versions), and all of a sudden I magically have the previously missing resolution options. In that DX, I can go native, but as soon as I switch to 11 and reload the game, those options disappear and I'm stuck back on 1280x720.

And to top it off, I checked attributes.xml with Notepad++, which prompts me to reload whenever an external program, in this case MWO, edits a document, and when I switch to DX11, the height and width parameters also vanish.

Thing is, I built this computer from parts I bought off Newegg. I installed Windows 10, and the game ran fine when I first installed it soon after. Then I got a virus and had to do a clean install. From then until recently, I hadn't played the game. Now I come on and these issues start up. I really don't see why, when Windows 10 comes with DX11, MWO has problems running DX11, but it really pisses me off that after a clean install with nothing imported from the previous install, I should have these issues.

EDIT: Managed to trick my game into running DX11 at native. Reloaded the game after the xml was edited, doesn't seem to have changed the resolution. So long as I don't fiddle with the video settings (not really any reason to do so anyways, as I can run everything on the highest settings), it seems like it'll stay that way.

Okay, a clean install means some portions of directx9c may not have been reinstalled, especially if installation program was an older version.

9.29.1974 version. June 2010. download, unpack then turn the dxsetup.exe. This is the last version of dx9c, and it will install/reinstall 32bit/64bit files. Even if the game is running in dx11, it still uses some of the files.

https://www.microsof...ls.aspx?id=8109

I also keep a copy of the above to reinstall it as one path to eliminate a possible issue with file corruption, as it re-installs all the files/modules, where as the dxwebsetup.exe (small initial download) only checks for and installs missing files.
