Been out of the game for a while and it seems I either don't remember how to play it or they have made some changes that I know nothing about. Was going to take a mech into the training grounds and after dropping found out that I couldn't turn. Checked key bindings and everything seems to be right but still can't turn.
I do have a hotas hooked up to my computer that I use in another game. If that is the problem is there any way to pick which control system I use ingame without having to actually up plug my hotas.

it sounds like the HOTAS may be interfering, if you do not want to unplug it it go to the start menu and type in "device manager" then press enter
if it asks you for administrative credentials put them in
on the list the controller will most likely be under "game controllers", "human interface devices" or "universal serial bus controlers"
when you have found the device right click and disable, that will turn it off without unplugging it
I have never tried disabling a joystick like that but it should work

You could not turn your mech or torso? I assume you were in mode in which you should, as in the first part of the tutorial you have limited controls. In testing grounds you can select any map and it will work normally like battle except without enemies, without some of the things in tutorial(mechwarrior academy). So testing groups is safer to write off anything from the tutorial interfering.
To check that keyboard works, test chat or try naming a mech you own.
After that, check settings, preferrebly reset them, specially tabs keyboard and controller. I don't know if mouse gets disabled in battle if you have a controller, but there doesn't seem to be any setting to use particular controller.
