I am wondering what those red and blue numbers on either side of the timer at the top of the cockpit mean?

When I go to the Testing Grounds the red number decreases by one each time I destroy a mech, but in a game they don't seem to work the same way.

I found this, but usually I see single digits.

“2. Scoreboard - Indicates the time remaining in the match and score for each team.”

Blue is the number of dead enemy 'mechs (your team score)
Red is the number of dead friendly 'mechs (enemy team score)

I should know this, but can't remember off-hand. I *think* the only (Quick Play) game mode without them is Conquest?

... and Domination... it has no Kill Counters either...... (and in both case it is a really-really stupid thing... ... really stupid..)

In Conquest you see a Red/Blue Resources Counters (starting from 0 up to 750) and in Domination an Occupation Timer (count backwards from 1 Min)...

Depends on the game mode.

On Conquest the numbers go from 0 to 750.
On Assault the bases have health.
On Skirmish, the number indicates the number of mechs remaining (or destroyed, not sure) on each team.

Blue is your team, red is the opposing team (whom see themselves as blue and you as red, so there isn't a red team blue team going on.

Now if you were talking about the numbers that go from 0 to 359 above a horizontal bar along the top but below the score board, that's telling you which direction you are headed with 0 being North, 90 being East, 180 being South and 270 being West. The one above the measuring-tape like bar is your torso and the one below is your legs.
