No Definite Plans For Solaris In 2017

Apparently, Solaris is considered, but nothing is certain.
I have to say, I'm kind of surprised (yes, really) by how few long term plans appear to be in place. For example, I always figured they had a long term plan for Community Warfare / Faction Play, but the first (and only) roundtable seemed to reveal there was no long term plan. They had a bunch of different options, and were open to all of them. Maybe they would even use the current QP format for FP matches, since QP was so popular. They didn't know.
And for a while I was wondering how QP and FP would fit together with Solaris. Was QP the prototype for Solaris? Or was it always their plan to use QP as part of FP, and then make Solaris something completely different, with Solaris maps and Solaris game modes?
So I guess this answers one of my questions. "Why isn't PGI sharing any information about long term plans, to keep players invested and interested in the future of MWO?" Well, because there are no long term plans. They won't decide what to do with Solaris until early 2017, apparently. And why aren't they talking about PVE? It seems to follow that they don't have any concrete plans for PVE either, since Russ was uncertain what the "next big thing" would be.
No point in writing dev logs and making vlogs about stuff they don't know what to do with.
Also, Russ also explained that this late summer / autumn had been really light on content (other than mech packs) because of the major features they are revealing for Mechcon. So it may seem like they haven't been doing anything, but apparently they've been really busy. I guess Big Things are coming in December.

doesn't make the thread any less arbitrary. essentially playing miss cleo and trying to predict the future. mechcon so hard to wait for?

Second, this coming update is still quite large considering.
Solaris? They got to balance it with faction play and who knows what else, putting a lot of time into it as well I guess. Anyones guess whats up with that.

You wouldn't be saving up almost as much content as possible for Mech Con? They got to have some in reserve for the new year for breathing room, but your saying you wouldn't go this route?

Even the low expectations I had set for the event were too high. Achievement Unlocked

What content? How is not telling the people the direction of you game not a priority at the event you keep telling people to look for information?

I couldn't agree more but at this point whats there to say? They wont be saying anything until Mech Con and no one can blame them.
I used to make jokes like "Solaris first quarter 2022" but the game has since been updating a lot quicker with "hints" that big updates and features are on the way. The comm wheel is finally in and decals, basics that needed to be added, test maps for Solaris are even in now. What more is there to say, its a wait and see thing now.

wrong there, if that were the case, this thread would not have been made. The OP is assuming since nothing is being said that means nothing is either being done or there are no plans. Is that a fair assessment?
I also don't know if this is just pertaining to Solaris or and general statement of MWO moving in 2017.
In the end who knows, better to wait till mechcon, since it literally is a month or so away.

Your asking if Mech Con 2016 will be mediocre or not? I don't know. They wont say a word until then is a safe bet. Everyone would do the same.

What I am saying that making declarative statements about what is to be done in 2017 in the manner addressed in the opening post is unfounded.
If the OP rather just have a discussion on when Solaris might make an appearance, that is a discussion is worth having.
all we know is that they have at least more than a concept for 1v1 maps. what reason do they have to make a map that is 1v1 other than Solaris style game play.
whether it's coming in 2017, nobody knows.

If Solaris gets development time wasted on it and is put in the current state of the game.
Like I said about CW it will fail...
Now if it's under a new engine, has spectate matches feature, and a replay feature of up to last 5-10 matches it will successful.
That said it's been made clear
No pve
No new engine
No Mad Cat MK II at MechCon
Literally nothing other than a new grinding skill tree is getting announced.
It took a whole year for a skill tree!!

Actually, I'm saying that since the president of PGI said they didn't have any definitive plans, there are no definitive plans. Solaris may be the next "big thing", or it may not. Maybe it'll be PVE. Maybe it'll be CW Phase 4. They don't know.
There's not a whole lot of stuff that needs to be assumed when he goes right out and says they will decide what the next big thing is after MechCon. He wasn't being very vague about it.

And Infotech.
Although Infotech was basically set up 2 years ago, I think. But then they took it out of the game to work on Energy Draw and FP instead.

They seem to want some feedback on those major changes first.
