Hi,
the scouting is a good idea, however the implementation of it needs refinement.
Still kill all wins, which is ok, but that should not be emphasized.
Novaember event, you need 40matchpoints to achieve.
Had one game now were we collected 9 data thingys, extracted and won the game, without one shoot. Perfest recon missions one would say.
I got 20 matchpoints for that. WTF?
I get 20 matchpoints for a perfect scouting mission, but when we encounter enemy, and all get killed without killing one enemy mech, just doing some ridicoulous dmg.
That is worth over 40MP?
First problem, fast light mechs are less usefull then most firepower you can get with 55tons.
Maybe that gamemode needs 2 drops with 80tons.
So you would have one exterme light + one heavier med, or two lighter mediums.
Some rewards for being sneaky ... its recon!

Hi GentleWarrior. Your observations regarding the "kill all" nature of the game relates not only to Scouting, but to the Quickplay modes as well. Domination, Conquest, and Assault are frequently resolved the same way as Skirmish, and the players have frequently requested PGI to develop systems to reward non-deathmatch play style.
With that in mind PGI did in years past
- add a endmatch reward for completing the objective in Assault and Conquest rather then killing all mechs to win
- add additional c-bill rewards for scouting, lance-in-formation, protected "mech", tag damage, etc.
- develop the domination gamemode and remove turrets from bases during Assault matches
Unfortunately, these changes did not significantly change playstyle. The way to maximise earnings for XP and C-bills is to 1) Win the match, 2) maximize damage dealt. Putting those to together, the "best" way to win is to "shoot the _____ out of the other team" which is why extermination of the other team is the end result in most battles.
That said, you can win being sneaky, so keep practicing!

Just have each Intel be worth 10 match points and 5k cbills. Perfect zero contact scout games take more skill than just 4v4 deathballing, and should actually be worth something...
