Yesterday I looked from right to left on HPG, and all I saw were NARDd teammates eating LRM's, while wall snipers lit us up and NARCd the unNARCd.

I say: this isn't looking good. Maybe we should run in the basement where LRM's and wall snipers can't get us.

The only response is "no hiding".

Everyone keeps doing what they're doing.

Maybe a minute later, things are looking worse. We lost 3 mechs and didn't inflict much damage being too pinned down by NARC's, LRM's and wall snipers. Still many of us are NARCd. Still tons of LURMs raining down on our team.

I say again: let's go in the basement, it can't be worse than this.

The only person who responded before repeats themselves: "no hiding".

Not long past that we all died. (A part of me finds this funny and wants to laugh about it) The other teams mechs were still shiny and undamaged for the most part. We got #rekt.

Question to the pros: how would you handle this?

Is it unmanly to make a strategic retreat to the basement on HPG to escape wall snipers or a strong NARC/LURM crew?

Some days I consistently see wall snipers score highest damage on HPG.

What is the best way to deal with wall snipers on HPG.

Send the Arctic Cheater with 6 spl to chase after the sniper for the kill.

Use long range PPFLDs to counter snipe. Those sniping weapons have long duration. As for NARC, hug the walls.

And there is nothing wrong with everyone hiding in basement, as long as the mode is not Assault or Conquest.

If most of team is narc-ed, hide below till narc passes. Use UAV's and LRM's, arty strikes and stuff like that.. If they are on one side, hide behind the dish on the opposite side.. They will run out of narcs eventually..

Pugs gonna pug no matter what.. I just sit back and watch them die if they don't wanna listen (after I die putting up the good fight of course).. I had the same thing happen yesterday on HPG.. no NARCs though just the sniping part.. nothing I could do in my jenner with SRMs.. told them they might wanna take out the snipers.. but nooooooo they didn't even so much as turn around and kept getting shot in buttocks with long range fire... while a bunch of them sat 200m away from some mech infront of them firing ERLLs and PPCs into them...

We all died... I went to heaven and they didn't Posted Image

Your Jenner had SRMs, so why didn't you go get the snipers?

this might be my go to strategy for everything but:
shoot them.

frankly ive never seen a guy on the wall in hpg do anything other than to be the last one to die.

Hehe, PUGs aversion to taking cover, funny. Bet he is one that complains about LURM rain....

I am no 'pro' but have enough situational and tactical awareness to know that if LURMS are raining down and being harassed by snipers in HPG, you take cover. Best cover is the basement.

This is not rocket science. Hell, not even science, just common sense.

But this is the QP mentality we have to deal with.

Your team might have done better standing under the radar dish for LRM cover while maintaining sight and shooting lines to the wallmechs and lurmers.

Artillery/Air strikes work pretty good at making them come down. Granted, you can't put modules on trial mechs, so you might be screwed either way.

May just be me but narc scouts have started making a resurgence. This was even before the recent patch. So I designed a light hunter killer. It is designed to hunt those annoying little guys down and if not outright kill them, at least push them off their camp spot where they like to hide and narc/tag/spot/snipe. and I know light do not "camp" they do tend to gravitate to areas that provide cover and good line of sight. so more area denial than anti camping.

As for what do I use to stop these lights. I use a shadow cat with ECM, 2 ssrm 6's, 1 ssrm 4, and 2 ER medium lasers. The base shadow cat can stay with a light long enough to inflict enough damage to make them want to keep the heads down. and with it's ability to jump it can cross a lot of terrain quickly.

I wasn't even aware that you can Narc someone from the wall. Your guys must be excellent at standing still. However, shooting wall snipers usually is enough to get 5-10 seconds peace as those guys need to find a good position again.

And HPG is one of the maps with so much lrm cover that you don't even need to get into the basement (saying this as an advocate of basement parties, so good brawls down there).

But the "no hiding" tells you all you need to know. Those guys would have died anyway.

Just the other day we had one of those wall clowns.
Certain places on the map one can actually climb up on it.
And I'm not telling do your map homework.
Anyways I took my Stalker up there and lurmed his sorry arse to death.
Much butthurt ensued.
Sad part was that he just kept trying to snipe me instead of just dropping down.
Tier 2 is a funny place sometimes.

This. If you get narced from such a distance AND can't find cover, you deserve to be lurmed!

This is a good suggestion, but since I'm a left-handed thinker, I like getting up top, under the dish and keeping the snipers on the far side. You can let them narc you and try to rain missles til the cows come home but if you stay under the dish, all they are doing is exhausting their supply of NARC and missles.

Marauder 3R works well in deleting cheeky wallsnipers

2 er ppcs and gauss, apply 2-3 times and watch them fall, that 50 % ppc velocity is kinda nice for shooting lights midair at 600-700 meters.

Even the most annoying SHC pilot will stop ppc or lpl sniping from the wall if he is losing trades constantly.

Oh, this one's easy - get rid of HPG. I cannot wait until they revise (i.e. completely destroy) HPG like they did my beloved Terra Therma.

Send the viper, who can jump onto the wall at almost any spot, to kill the sniper. My Medusa loves murdering them.

I was sniping the other day on that wall trying out a PHX build and a Firestarter came up behind me without me knowing and cored me out. My fault for not looking around and getting tunnel vision, but that's how you beat them.

That narc is going to cost them dps, especially on a light or medium so go after them with lights and mediums that can jump or hurry round on the wall. There are places to get up there without jumpjets after all.
