So... a thread upset that people like something the OP does not has reached nine pages. Possibly ten after this post. Whaa?
I don't wanna sound like too much of an *** here, but... why does it matter? If anime upsets you that much, all I have to answer that with is you haven't found one that appeals to you yet.
Anime is not a genre in an of itself. Saying you don't like animé is like saying you don't like movies or Live Action shows or something. You either don't know what you're talking about, or hold a grudge. I think we know which it is here... Avoid the school girl slice-of-life and the dull full-of-filler series like DBZ and Naruto and there is a LOT out there.
Try Gundam 08th MS Team. Very realistic, 'Mechs feel heavy, slow and ponderous, much like our BTech. Only 12 episodes too. May change your mind.
Also Battletech owes it's entire existence to anime. Some of our most iconic designs, the ones people love such as the Warhammer and Marauder as well as others are lifted straight out of 1970s\80s anime, just as the Real Robot genre was starting to gain popularity. Battletech does not exist in a bubble, it was\is pretty much a ripoff designed to bring big robots to the west. Hell, wasn't the Timberwolf designed by an animé 'mecha artist?

doesn't changes the fact that MWO/BT =/= Anime. we also don't litter anime Forums with early cartoon memes just because animes are the japanese version of cartoons.
