So now that it has been a while, what does everyone think about the Cyclops? I ask this because I've not seen them very much lately and it is one of the mechs I'm interested in once it comes out for C-bills.

Do those of you that have them like them or are they regulated to secondary mechs like the Archer?

They are a decent assault 'mech. They can do all the current setups, but just not quite as well as other assaults. That's the best I can summarize it. I think they do 4 uac5's / AC5's better than the mauler, IMHO.

They're alright. Worth picking up the one with 7 missile hardpoints for the 7x SRM4+A build with a STD340-350

I'm a big fan. I've always liked mixing large SRM payloads with other weapons, and the Cyclops does that very well. The Hero makes for an excellent dakka platform, too.

I'm still a fan. 400 engine cap just makes it awesome. Slap in an XL390 or XL400, unlock speed tweak, and put all of that armor and firepower in places where the enemy team isn't expecting it.

I didn't buy the hero variant, but if we get a few more events that distribute MC, I may be adding that to my collection. 2AC5+2UAC5 looks promising.

Besides that, I found the standouts to be the 10q and 10z. The 10q has been discussed at length as being one of the premiere IS splat mechs, so i don't feel the need to add to that. The 10z I found particularly strong, because the triple-energy hardpoints in the arms allow you to side-stack your weaponry and use the other arm exclusively as a shield. Gauss, three large lasers, and an XL390 was my go-to build on the 10z.

XL cyclops is one of the only IS assaults that feels tough to crack. I wish more people would run XL assaults on assaults that are actually XL safe.. rather than slap them in king crabs. ;_;

It was a decent mech till the latest ac and uac nerf. Now it it's one more mech to strip and park.

I'm still mixed in my opinion despite owning them all. Some are downright poor, others average or slightly useful, and the Sleipnir being the best version in my eyes. It can be useful if used as it was originally designed (a command platform and a clean up assault) but it's not well suited for front line duty as the Atlas and Mauler are. It'll get by, but it seems a wee bit glass cannon in a few variants.

Choose wisely.

i bought the pack and ist one of my worst assaults. Using XL is just suicide and the other thing is. it has 0 weapon quirks. so you stick with vanilla IS-Laser that are just terrible. Buy Kodiaks instead.Posted Image
