Anyone have a decent build for the hunchback Grid Iron? Looks like a lot of people might get one when this event ends, I have tried to build it multiple ways but it seems really lackluster.

Any pro footballers out there who know how to build this ball?

Same way as you build the HBK-4G - Big gun in the torso (AC/20 or Gauss), and varying amounts of Mediums as back up weapons (1 or 2 if you go AC/20/Gauss+Standard Engine, 3 (Maybe Pulse) if you go Gauss/XL).

GI has a lot of accel/decel compared to other variants. Personally, I'd go for dakka. Class 5 ACs, since GI doesn't have velocity/range quirks for bigger class ACs. Peep, shoot, back off.

We use the term football player(s) here, we do not call them footballers.

I was using them for a comparison
basically saying I don't expect the IS hunchback to be any better then the IIc version

so it will just sit in the hanger collecting dust

Yeah I had this http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7ccea7cda3639ae
I was trying not to mix my Uacs and Acs, makes sense though. I thought someone might have a focused build instead this jack of all trades master of none the hardpoints seem to dictate.

Wait? Are you saying that your football players are not ballers? (ebonic's for an epic person)

Who would use an IS huncback when the IIC is an option? I thought that was why they where giving it away for free?

Hunchback IIc's are amazing, you must have been playing them wrong. Easily the best clan medium right now. High mount peek dual gauss, high mount peek laser vomit, high mount jump snipe dual PPC, high mount dakka (even with dakka nerf), the mech can do everything meta except brawl (and even then you could srm build the IIc)

I would Gauss +3ML on the grid iron

AC10 and 3MPulse. Put an AC10 cooldown and MPulse range module and go to town. AC10 fires like an AC5 and almost 300m on medium pulse.

I'm just saying I've never heard it used by an American. It's a British term for soccer players, and thus to me doesn't really make sense to use on American football players, they aren't playing soccer afterall.

IMO, one should put on big engine to take advantage of the accel/decel bonus the GI offers.

The Grid Iron was decent once upon a time, not great, but decently fun - absolutely not a tier 1 mech though.

And for some reason some jack%$# at PGI decided it was too good and "fixed" it.

I don't remember the last time I played mine or have even seen one in a match.

Another brilliant move by the balance overlord.

I've seen exactly one Grid Iron. Ever. And it was on the first day after this Grid Iron event started.

I assume, once we get it, that QP will be flooded with the thing for a day or two while people level them. Should be fun.

GRID IRON Dakka 5

Close to what I like, but too much ammo, and I like my mechs a bit hotter. Shoot and scoot. I had good luck w the XL and the gauss pre nerf, but the 275 is the trick to staying alive. Probably need to elite before trying this one, and you may need to spread the lasers a bit if you are closer in and want to protect the XL.
The hotter Dakka
