New Map System Open World

I'm sure it won't come. But take a look at games from the same time like Planetside 2. If PGI really want's Mechwarrior to take a new spot light in the news and media thats all it has todo. A completely Openworld map with control able resources in terrortorys that players can wage war at any time on any day.

Big Job? Definatly and I doubt PGI would even consider it at this stage of development. Sad thing is Mechwarrior Online is a dying game and will like all others close down one day due to simply being old. New games are coming out daily and more and more are looking towards open world sandbox mmo styles doesnt matter if its rpg, fps, rts all of them are switching towards this. Games that don't will simply be forgotten.

This is why this suggestion is here, If MWO is to surive and prosper more than it ever has someone has to stand up and take charge to drive it into the future. Yes, its a costly investment, yes it will drive the game back into its alpha stages. However the company that chooses this path will make bank on their return investment of time and money for it. MWO already has the loyal fanbase its stood the test of time and even after 4 years is still being played. Its free 2 play and not P2W players love that. What they complain about is Maps choices.

If I were the devs I'd keep the game going while i got my team working on this kinda major rework. We'd look at the current maps studying the acrh types and design a world with all of them combined. Yes it would be big, it would have tobe big enough to host all the players on the individual servers. We'd sit down and discuss faction/house/and clan starting areas. Make sure resources were divided unevenlly. C-bills and Mc would still be global credits but the way there were earned would be by salvaging destoryed mechs and coming from terriotorys each different group controlled. I'd put in place different resource types, and like I said they would spread uneven to force fighting for control against one another.

The goal would be global domination for each main group. There would be AI defences inplace at certian choke points to give a losing group an better advantage to slow down the games pace. More AI than currently used I might add. More than stadic defences. AI controled tanks, Aircraft and arty.

During the whole time of setting this up the game of MWO we have now would still be going on as normal so funding into the company would not stop. Additional funding would be raised by offering Alpha tester tickets, then Early Access beta as many games do now. By this time Reviews from Ign youtube, MMOBomb PcGamer ect... would be coming in showing off this new inovation of MechWarrior. All this would bring players flocking back in. The F2P model would be kept of course, though changes would be made. Mech bays would now be available for rent at differnt areas closer to the front lines. They would feature a high cbill daily cost of maybe 2 mill and a Mc cost of about 150. This daily fee would push players to try and buy more mc thus devs make more money. While F2P would have to grind a couple of hours just to afford the rent much less a profit. Bit unfair? maybe but games need funds and 2mill can be made today a day easy. Esp if your getting 100k a match that only last what 10 mins?

Bringing up the next thing. Arena mode for competitive and casual play. Its basically already done. We call it faction and quickplay now. So we just port that over and blend it in with the game. Mechs will have no repair or fuel cost needed in this mode as it is now. c bill earnings would be reduced to you only makeing 25% the average made in the open world. Like I said this would be casual arena quick play and Competitive teams fighting it out for bragging rights and testing new builds more than anything.

Trial Mech system would change for open world too. The player would be offered 1 tier 3 or 4 ranked mech of each weight class. Till they completed their challenges and bought their own. It would be weak with a stock build. But suffer no repair, refuel or even mech bays. The new tutorial that should be done will tell the player its a weak but sturdy mech, and by playing smart will serve them till they can afford their own mech. After a player gets to a certian rank these mechs will no longer be free for them to pilot, to stop abuse explotation of groups just running endless waves of these mechs at one another.

Now some will ask, what if a player spends all his c bills after such a rank? How will he repair or refuel his mech? Simple answer is they will have to wait. Terrortorys and resources gained by a group will be globally split between all players as it gathers. Thus why the war will rage more land means more c bills for nothing. But that will stop anyone from bankrupting themselves and the more advanced players get the more they'll learn to save.

Anyway I know thats a long read but all you mechwarriors out there please show your support if you like the idea. I know its crazy to think just bc we all get behind it, theres a chance. However I think I remember a trash can of a mech making it into the game the same way.
