Let the builds and paint-jobs come, so that the people receiving a Grid Iron can get properly hyped.



This particular build is a bit suicidal... but tons of fun once you get comfortable with it.

I don't even know if I'll ever touch mine. I mean, it's a Hero mech with no lore background to speak of, so all I can really think of is taking it and ripping everything but the Gauss rifle out and say it's one of the HBK-4Gs used by the 9th Ghost regiment during the war of 3039.

Now that it is given away, maybe they will consider reverting the quirk to previous iteration? You know when it was just right?

Maybe they toned it down a notch because some or many non-owners were complaining it was P2W?

I know it sucks now... Point is it wasn't at all OP with previous quirk, you still need know how to deal with how the Gauss works to get the most of it so... please now that everyone have a chance to get it make it special and desired like it was before.

Best thing about the GI is that any hbk 4G build will work with it or you can do crazy with combinations like ac/missiles or missiles/lasers.

ahhh, juicy broken irons... always remember, shoot the left torso, that one without the gun. GI pilots tend to protect their gun so they even turn that side to you! instakill all the grid irons, just 62 Damage points away!

I think I'm going to put an LB-10X in there along with a standard engine and some backup lasers. Already have a 4G (F) for my AC/20 needs, and I despise Gauss Rifles.

Or maybe I'll give dual AC/5s a shot.

IMO GI was never OP in the first place, just a victim of one of PGIs random nerf bats for no real reason. [and no I never owned one so am not biased]

Was it a good hero? Sure, it still died pretty quick especially with the explosive gauss rifle in it's torso that popped rapidly if you could hit it.

Maybe 1 in 20 field a STD engine. By the way you can tell by the loadout what they have. Most people run the 3 MPL/Gauss build and that is XL all the time. Gauss and only 2 ML that could be STD but that one is rare.

Most of my mechs share this color scheme and camo pattern (phranken).
I love that the "skeleton head" is drawn on the hunch and not on the cockpit, like it is on most other mechs using phranken.

Had a GI for about 2 years now...

My Build since forever, the only thing that has changed was I went to a STD and dropped 2 tons of ammo once the cooldown got nerfed. It still has 30% but its not like it was...oh and dickles.

I'm actually working REALLY HARD to get my Grid Iron from this event, and it will be my first Hero mech, and first hunchback.. so I hope for good things..

Sad thing tho, I've heard it's one of the worst hero mechs.. but hey.. it's free, so I'm not gonna complain much ;-)

Honestly, the Grid Iron is one of those Mechs that I just can't seem to make a decent build with on smurfy.

Not enough missile hardpoints for SRM brawling
Way too light to make a Ballistic build and run STD engine with decent speed
XL builds are screaming "I have a death wish" especially with the Hunchy

Guess I'll try the HBK-4G on this or something

Ground it to Master during the glory days. Regret skipping the Limited Edition. Will just sell my free one for C-Bills and its 'Mech Bay.
