It's why I see 3-5 people on my team everytime with the highest score while the rest are sub 200-300's.
I understand people can have off days but every game there's always 3-5 top players pulling the team while the rest are lax, all the time everytime without fail.
I ask how many sub T3's there on my team and I get usually 4-6 answers, so I check their profiles and sure enough they are.
And people still say I'm BS'ing.

PSR is broken anyways.
If you hold a 50/50 average and play often enough, you will get to T1 as an average win will gain you more PSR than an average loss will cost you. Over time, this will add up to where you made T1, congratulations... T1 does not mean you are the L337 skillz mechmeister, just you played at least average for long enough to make T1. (Which, in theory, should mean more experienced or better players... but guess what, T1 is full of potatoes too!)
One solution for the PSR could be to make each Tier be allocated a certain percentage of the active population, with T1 and T5 having the smallest percentages of the player base and T3 having the largest population. Of course, this would open up other issues of ranking and implementation that would have to be overcome, but each system I have ever seen for player ranking has it's flaws.
It isn't perfect, but it is what we have. Instead of giving the lower tiered players a difficult time playing and telling them how bad they are, try to take them under your wing and pass some of your skills on... it is up to us to create and educate a better caliber of player in order to keep fresh blood flowing on the arena floor.
If all we do is trash new players and make it difficult or not fun, we are hurting ourselves.
You want better players? Make them.
But yeah, PSR, broken. MM, possibly due to using tiers, is broken, but working almost as intended.
We can fix the players, and we don't have to wait until next patch.

Since MM/PSR is queuing up players from all tiers that means that our player base is small.
Plain and simple. This comes from logical standpoint.
It's either wait 20 min for drop in your tier bracket or drop now with whoever is available ... and that includes people from t5/t4 being put into the game with t2/t1.
Like it does matter anyway. I derp a lot from time to time and act like a total t5 so whatever.
And I can't be the only one who is derping from time to time.

I come back on my word, group at first had a 60seconds valve like solo and then was lowered to 30second. Dunno where they are now. We do know for a fact that no one, at ANY tier should be put with another guy thats 3 tier above/under him.

Balance achieved!
Seriously though, Russ/PGI is not going to admit this is a population issue.

Many who uses voip use it in a basic way because technically, we are not supposed to get herded. They assume that no mater how bad our position, dumb our decision, we can still make the most of it and be asset unless we fk pretty badly. New players probably dont understand half the chatter. These voip hero would probably more helpful, knowing that they are playing with t4 t5 when they are t1.
You cant get away from the bad things that scares you. You arent helping anyone by putting t5 vs t1 and you certainly arent helping either by hiding it in the game playerlist.

Maybe in the sense that you wanted it to work but not for me. It was keeping the new players away from the grinder and we wished player retention to get higher with it, in that sense it was working. I was not one to speak against the tiering system. I never wanted what you can only get in a pure 1vs1 or pure 12vs12 ranking system, its not that kind of game.

Balance Overlord avoids playing against tier one by avoiding playing at all. Still no matches on the leaderboard since the two losses he put up in Season 1.

That being said from my personal anecdotal experiences and completely non-scientific measurements I would say it probably happens more on the rare side. When I went up a tier I started seeing more frequently people I know to be in the same higher tiers as myself. I obviously can't prove it, nor can I say I kept a log, but I did make a mental note of the noticed difference in player selection after the change in tier.

Obtaining perfect data for that is next to impossible but if someone knows a free OCR (or better way!) that can read names from match start/end screens we could automatically check those against known tiers, for example those published by the forum.
Not ideal but better than nothing.
I think it happens quite a bit but theres no data to back that subjective guesstimation up.

Or we could get an official response from a Dev.

Yep. Well said. New players being stuck in matches with experienced players wasn't very nice. Match after match at least.
I find matches more challenging since the tier system as well. For sure.
The last while matches have been really good 80% at least. Close, hard fought, intense.
