Is the single-player going to be made by PGI? If so, then meh.

So excited!!! Especially if it's a lot like Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries with the missions, salvage, and having to maintain your Mechs and Pilots, so hyped. Course co-op missions in that game would be dope.

Yes, in Unreal. I am cautiously optimistic. Won't be pre-ordering, but will be keeping an eye on this and if it is decent I will buy it when it comes out.

Edit: I guess we know where Bryan has been now.

I loved how immersive the gameplay looked and felt - largely due to, I think the change to Unreal 4.

PGI has probably been spending the last 6 months either scripting out or otherwise tweaking the game's assets to allow reuse in other engines (e.g., HBS BattleTech), so it makes sense they'd want to get the most out of their investment.

PGI doesn't know jack about campaign AI. At least the engine this time is far more workable.

Hopefully they used some of that mech pack money to hire someone who does.

The MW Academy has been the proving grounds for the PVE elements (including the AI) that we saw today for some time now, so yes, they in fact did so by virtue of allowing their staff to learn lessons and discover obstacles in a cheap, "safe" manner.

People have been spamming the forums with identical threads about MW5, so I replied with exact same words to each of them. And I care nothing about what you think.

That's why I demand forum warriors or mods here to make or merge same thread into MW5 Mercs megathread so it prevent same thread pop out in GD.

Hey forumers or mods, better make MW5 Merc announcement Megathread so it will not pop same thread in General Discussion, Thanks you!

Oh this is awesome.

The other good news is that this is using the Unreal Engine, making due their promise to migrate to a new engine!

Even though that trailer was rough around the edges (missing cockpit entry animations, framerate drops in several places), the one thing it nailed was making the mechs FEEL giant and heavy again. No game since Mechwarrior 3 and the Virtual Pods has gotten that right (bonus props for making SRMs look awesome again).

Because PGI were smart enough to nail the most important things right off the bat it gives me some confidence in the whole project. So I honestly don't care how broken the AI will inevitably be, or how buggy the game will be (as long as it doesn't constantly crash), or how feature sparse it is, I will preorder it out the wazoo when/if it becomes available. I've been waiting forever for a modern single player MW.

The pool of talent available to draw from to work in U4 is huge compared to Cryengine (whoever hasn't been snatched up by Star Citizen already) so AI and other issues should easily be overcome with good talent.

Where does it say anywhere that MWO is moving to a defferent engine, they knew they needed a different engine for a different game, MWO was a test bed and filler in while they got the experience they needed to actually develop MW5.

MWO can still make great use of the CRYengine.

I will hold my enthusiasm until I see it is actually a completed game before it is "launched". Just say no to microtransaction'd missions.

WUT? You don't think Russ would make a short single player campaign to meet a deadline and then sell add on missions for 10 bucks each?

Again, I will wait and see. Years of MWO has taught me To look at Russ and Co's actions and results, not his announcments and hype.
