Simple answer to this :)
No trading what so ever (or gifting)
You want to help someone you know out? Send them a disposable prepaid card to buy their own stuff or cover their back in game to help them work for it.

Gifting is not take your old stuff and give it to someone. gifting is when u buy something in the online store with real money and give the item u bought to some else as a gift instead of keeping it your self. if u buy something in the store at full cost y the hell would u sell it lower then what u paid for,and if any 1 is dumb enough to pay more then the online store i have no words 4 them

Would still give someone a reason to hack account. There are probably plenty of people that aren't going to spend their founder MC on the first day.

I can see your point there with MC founder money but its already been stated by the devs that there will be gifting added. i think like most ftp games u cant give MC away or trade with it Once it is already on your acount but as u pay 4 it with your card u have a choice to gift right when u pay 4 it and that is the only time u can.

Haven't sceen a topic about this so what the hey.

The Idea is simple allow players to either give, trade and or sell mech's and equipment to other players directly in game.

This will help people trying to start clans and promote a social network plus there is an established black market in BattleTech so this will keep to the cannon source material for the game.

An established trading system would be sweet it's one of the things I wished more games had.

No. Its a F2P game and that means restricted economy....otherwise what are you grinding for? Their whole xp system is based on this: you gain xp to unlock equipemnt and weapons to buy. If you skip that with trading then you wreck the basics already set up.

Where did they say that there would be gifting?

I don't see how gifting could ruin the economy or the revenue stream. It's just buying game money or whatever else they sell from the store as usual but then having it go to somebody else...right?

How about a real money auction like Diablo 3?

I think this sums up my reaction pretty well

what you will see most likely is people hiring services to farm experience and Cbills while they sleep or work. As well as people will sell their accounts then build another.

As much as I like the option of trading in MMOs, I must say this one would not benefit from it. I think (as do many others, i can see) it would create so much economy problems and imbalances it would just ruin the experience for everyone. The only thing players should be free to trade would be cosmetic improvements for their mechs, but I don't really see that happening either.

I was an advocate for trainding a while back, but really, it's just not worth the security issues. If there's no trading, there will be less hacking (it'll still be there, but without the ability to ransack accounts for goods, it'll be a less significant threat than otherwise). If I want to give my buddy a Mech, I can send him $5 in the mail or whatever.
