Really though, just imagine what the MDD could do with 2 high mounted PPCs, its current high accel and decel quirks (up to 60% on one variant), and all its extra pod space and whatever quirks get thrown at it. Could also do 2LPL+2ERML with the least exposure of any mech.

I mean they did it with the Kit Fox, why stop there? At what point does it stop being "oh, they're just making an OP variant, but its a bad mech" and start becoming an issue? Imagine the ice fridge getting a couple extra torso mounted energy hardpoints and pushing it over the edge or Hellbringer getting 2 or 3 energy hardpoints in the right torso, they already gave it an extra 1 via the loyalty variant.

This is a scary prediction and I fear it might actually come true given the latest omni pod trend.

At least those side torsos are weak and tasty.
But really, I dunno if you can flat out replace the other clammer heavies that do laser vom/high mount PPCs.

Mad dog is the best heavy missile boat next to summoner. It's a choice between more launchers and backup small pulses or durability and jumpjets.

Errr, you're a bit late for that, unfortunately. Power has been creeping rapidly over the past year.

I can't wait for the Marauder IIC to phase out the Warhawk.

I like the idea, I'd like to see all mechs have a suitable set of three/four variants that at covers a good laser/ballastic/missile/ppc build.

Maddog to me is a missle boat. I've run a variant with the dual guass but while that's ok, it's low arm mounts are annoying as heck.

Big deal, one can build an 8E Stormcrow and still move faster. Would it be better than PPC Hunchback or Nova? I don't see this as a big shakeup.

I'd prefer ballistics in the STs personally, but even with those mounts in your pic, the MDD would never be a metamech. It's been a favorite of mine since my TT days though and the only reason I don't play it more is because the heavy queue tends to be so bloody saturated. I might be tempted to get a MDD hero, powercreep hard point locations aside.

I'd expect Missile omni pods for arms honestly.

Well, in the past I don't think PGI did power creep on purpose, it was mostly incidental if a mech happened to turn out particularly good. But the game has been around long enough I do think after so much ranting and raving it has finally sunk into their heads part of what makes a mech better. There's no canon artwork I can find that shows a Linebacker with over-the-shoulder laser mounts for instance.

So yeah, a year ago I would have argued with anyone that said PGI was intentionally power creeping, but since we're starting to see these hardpoint locations on mechs that don't have it canonically I can't really defend them on that anymore. Just when I thought my respect for them couldn't get any lower, they find a way.

LOL.

Re: the LBK, though, I think it needed that bit of help. They actually did a great job making a mech that looked really awful on paper into something fun, unique and workable, though not OP. I assume it was an accident, of course. ;)
