Usually mech's backs are thin to a fault, even a medium could bring down a Assault if it get on its back. Jump jets can be really devastating, specially if you can turn mid-air.

LOL...This actually reminded me of something I saw in a MW4 game..It was an assault mech with another mech standing back to back lol....
Actually one even better was when there was an assault mech walking forward with a big sized medium behind it walking backward LOL. I couldn't aim straight because I was laughing so hard.

As for rear protection in BT TT I loved mounting rear facing pulse lasers :) or flip arm pulse lasers.

I wonder if it would ever be effective, if you expected to be 'in the middle of the fray', to put almost equal front and rear armor on your mech? You always can, at least with TT rules... it just makes your front that much weaker as well.

Previous MW games limited what you could put back there. I doubt PGI will break this mold. But if you could, and chose to swap front for rear, then more power to you.Just make you a softer target from the front on your way in.
